Get ready to turn heads when you ride this bike around -- you'll get asked about this Scrambler all the time when out riding it. The '69 K1 Scrambler had a couple of features that were exclusive to that year, including a squared exhaust, "extra spoke" wheels, and the reflector on the front fender (surprisingly hard to find these!). This bike was found in a garage a few years back in a disassembled state (parts were in boxes).

1972 HONDA CL450 ScramblerAll Original      The CL450 Scrambler hardly needs an introduction. If you are reading this ad, then you likely know the history of these bikes. Following the immediate success of Honda's CL72 250cc Scrambler and the famous Dave Ekins/Bill Robertson Tijuana to La Paz ride in March of 1962 on 250 Scramblers, Honda decided to increase the engine size in increments from 250 to 305, and finally using the DOHC engine of the original Black Bomber, to 450cc.

I haven’t built a bike for myself in over 3 years.  So after a horrible 2012 getting cancer again, doing chemotherapy, full body radiation and having a bone marrow transplant.  I was aching to build something I have thought about for years and use the build as therapy while I was recovering to get back into the swing of things.  Everyone knows me for building cafe bikes, well, I actually build motorcycles, any brand any model as long as they are from the 60’s or 70’s.  I wanted to build something I could take off-road or jump off a curb and actually carry stuff with me when I ride.  I bought the donor bike a few years ago and it was soo clean I was unsure if I wanted to even modify it.  But being someone who can never leave good enough or perfect alone, I had to take it to the extreme.  I was collecting many parts for the build over the next few years while it was just sat upstairs in my personal work area.  I did a little mock up here and there over the years to dial in some of the parts I wanted to use.  Then I started to spend every saturday just working on the fabrication.  I basically had to assemble and build the whole bike as it was going to be finished before it was taken apart for all the plating and coatings.  The 40 cal. ammo cans were custom mounted with 70’s Hondaline saddle bag mounts that I chopped up so they would come off and on easy.  The exhaust had to mount under the left side ammo can and the rear suspension was a lot taller so custom gearing and clearance for the chain was needed.  Every nut and bolt that I was using had to be accounted for and all the chrome had to be stripped before the zinc plating.  After mock up everything went out to powder coating, yellow zinc plating, anodizing and paint.  The ammo cans house solar panels from Goal Zero, they charge a flashlight and speakers form Goal Zero too and they charge my iPhone while I ride.  They will charge anything with a USB port.  The tail light is a model A reproduction from Lick’s cycle that I bought over 5 years ago and it pretty much sums up my 2012 year and how I felt against the world! Pics shot by: Eric Simpson Photography Specs: CL350 gas tank with custom Lossa gas cap 40 cal.

2025 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS Review – First Ride

Thu, 20 Mar 2025

Would you describe the ruckus, sir? Photography: Chippy Wood; Stuart Collins Gents, I shudder to think what sport motorcycling would look like without the Speed Triple in our midst. As the story goes, a few intrepid souls at Triumph's Hinkley plant took a Daytona 900 and tossed its fairings in the bin, then stuck on a single-round headlight, birthing the streetfighter class as we know it.

2025 Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Review – First Ride

Tue, 04 Feb 2025

Look out, the Tiger Sport 800 is on the prowl Photos by Chippy Wood and Gareth Harford/Triumph Motorcycles The motorcycling landscape is a place of wondrous flux as manufacturers vie for position amongst current trends. It's called striking while the iron is hot, folks, and it's what keeps the lights on around here. For some time now, the traditional sport-touring class has been left out of the fun, relegated to the room's corner chair, where it's watched a bullish ADV segment enter the market's collective garages – oh, the indignity!

Updating a classic with modern suspension and sportier looks Photos by Triumph. With how advanced today’s motorcycles are becoming, the 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 is a breath of fresh air. Triumph’s Modern Classic family is all about honoring the past aesthetically while keeping things modern under the hood, but there’s something about the Speed Twin 900 that honors this balance in as pure a form as possible.

2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Review – First Ride

Fri, 06 Dec 2024

The sportiest modern classic continues to push the performance envelope Photos by Triumph Motorcycles. Selling 20,000 units since its reintroduction in 2019, the Speed Twin had once topped the charts as Triumph’s best selling model before being unseated by the likes of the excellent standard Trident 660, and now the equally impressive TR400 machines. For 2025, the Speed Twin 1200 not only gets enhanced electronics by way of an IMU and slight styling upgrades, but is also now joined by a pointedly sport-focused RS model that ups the ante of what a modern classic is capable of.

2024 Triumph Tiger 1200 Explorer Review – First Ride

Fri, 03 May 2024

More spinning mass for the Tiger’s Triple For the 2024 model year, the US will see only the Tiger 1200 Explorer models hitting dealership floors, while our friends up north will have the Pro models only. In 2025, the whole family will be getting back together in both countries. So, for now, we’ll focus on the Tiger 1200 Explorer models and the slight revisions that Triumph brought us to the beautiful Scottish countryside just outside of Glasgow, to test out.
