2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE First Look

V-Strom 1050XT gets replaced by a more capable off-road variant Suzuki announced updates for the V-Strom 1050, as well as a new off-road oriented version for 2023. The new 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE replaces the 1050XT model, and adds new features to make it a more capable off-road machine such as a 21-inch front wheel, longer-stroke suspension, and a larger aluminum bash plate. Both models remain powered by a 1037cc V-Twin engine, but for 2023, Suzuki introduced new hollow sodium-filled exhaust valves, claiming reduced temperature in the combustion chamber, and thus improved efficiency and durability.

Marco Melandri earned BMW its second ever World Superbike victory to move into second place in the championship standings behind Max Biaggi in the series’ only stop in the United States. Melandri won a red-flagged Race Two at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park after finishing second to defending WSBK Champion Carlos Checa in Race One to give him 142.5 points on the season, tied with Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes but behind Aprilia‘s Biaggi who leads the way with 160.5 points. Since Suzuki Motor of America restructured after filing for bankruptcy, dropping its auto line and focusing on the powersports business, some changes are being made internally as well. President Seiichi Maruyama is leaving his post Taking his place is former Executive Vice President Toru Muraki.  Also as part of the restructuring, Takuya Sato is named Executive Vice President overseeing the company’s marine operations. “Toru Muraki’s global motorcycle experience further positions Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
