Suzuki Other description
2003 Suzuki Intruder Volusia, VL800, I ve owned for a couple years now and love it! It is very smooth riding and shifting with plenty of power for freeway riding but agile and light enough for around town. It seems to get very good gas mileage but I have never figured out exactly what it does get. My favorite ride is up in the canyons where it excells. It has the original exhaust which sounds mellow but powerful. The seat height accomodates a rider from, I would say, 5 6 to over 6ft. I m 6ft and have plenty of room. I m now 67 and just don t ride it enough to keep. You can tell from the low miles. It does have a few scratches (not dents) from a slow speed fall but they are not very noticable. I have had to replace both fenders, as they are plastic. The rear fender has a couple small cracks on the back edge. I haven t planned on selling it and the small imperfections just haven t bothered me. The tires are in attractive shape, and the engine and tranny work and shift perfectly.

Piaggio, Suzuki Hit with Fines by CARB
Mon, 01 Apr 2013The California Air Resources Board has agreed to settlements with Suzuki and Piaggio for selling motorcycles that the companies did not disclose could be modified to exceed the state’s strict emission standards. Suzuki was hit with the larger of the two penalties, agreeing to a fine of $3,020,000, though the amount could be reduced by $1,812,000 if Suzuki follows certain provisions. The penalty is in addition to the previous fine of $885,000 levied by the Environmental Protection Agency for selling 25,396 LT-R450 ATVs and 62 RMX450Z dirtbikes with a racing map programmed into their ECUs that was not certified or tested. This racing map is not initially accessible to customers, unless they buy aftermarket devices to unlock the higher-performance engine mapping.

We can now confirm that the recall also affects U.S. models as well as models from other manufacturers using the same components from Nissin.
