Suzuki Other description

1981 Suzuki GS650GL Odometer reads 10,000, but the odometer isn't running (details below). I was told it has 8,400 mis on it when I bought it.For sale:A 1981 Suzuki gs650gl shaft-drive 650 in fair to super condition.Current issues:1) Speedometer does not work (new cable, new gauge, must be the drive unit). Also means odometer does not work.2) One carb mount is leaking, all four are due for replacement. This causes a misfire on one cyl and needs to be fixed before the bike is ridden more than a brief ride to get it home. The carbs will need to be removed to install the boots, then rebalanced.3) The seat is wrecked. It's there, but it's wrecked. ~$100 on ebay.4) The PO put stupid little short front blinkers on the bike with smoked lenses. I have original front blinkers, but a couple small rubber pieces are needed to mount them5) There's some corrosion on the case sides, but that can be cleaned off with some scrubbing/polishing.6) One exhaust header was replaced and the joint should be welded at some point, but it's never been an issue.7) The rear pads are worn and could use attention, but I rarely use the rear brake at all. What's new/good/repaired:**Carbs fully cleaned, all o-rings replaced, original jetting** (This job is a pain in the butt)Valves adjusted to within factory specNew front wheel bearingsNew front brake pads, stainless steel line, DOT4 fluidNew tach and speedo cablesNew clubman handle bars (plus an alternate set of new and the original very uncomfortable L style)Newish front and rear tires - under 1000mis on each, rear is a Dunlop Elite three front is another dunlop. Nice and sticky :)New final drive oil seal (and final drive oil, breather circuit cleaned)Case savers (crash bars) added and highway pegs included but not installedNew plugs, oil could be changed. Oil filter is only ~1000 mis oldNew Headlamp bulb, Xeon (slightly more white than yellow, 3100K color temp - not blue or purple)Throttle mod to make it easier/more comfortable to get to full throttle from idleNew ignition and key - originals included, but the original key is too worn to stay in the original ignition while riding, hence the replacement. Also included:Saddle bags (if you want them)New unused motorcycle coverA cortech touring jacket with several vents, removable liner, and built-in crashpads. There's a forum dedicated to these bikes with loads of details and people willing to offer advice. I have electronic copies of the owner's manual too -- which includes specs, directions for maintenance and a full engine overhaul with pictures and wiring diagrams. The forum can be found at www.thegsresources.com.The bike does run and drive. Tags current but up for renewal in January? I pre-owned it to commute in 2010 and due to illness wasn't able to do some repairs (leaking final drive) for a couple years. I got it back on the road this summer and rode it a bit and almost finished up repairs.I'm asking 1400. If I replaced the boots myself and addressed the speedometer, I'd ask 1800 - buuut I'm trying to move out of the area by the 1st of the year and I don't want to transport it. Nor do I have a lot of time to do the work before I move. I've also realized I want more of a touring bike (with a windshield and a stereo) so that long rides are more enjoyable. Please call or text between 10am and 8pm if you're interested.Test rides ok, but only with a cash deposit of at least $1000 and of course a valid M1. Current insurance on the bike. Here are some images from fall eight (the 1st one) and spring 2010(2-4). I'll post current ones later today.

Suzuki Recalls 2012 V-Strom 650 and Burgman Scooters

Fri, 10 Feb 2012

Suzuki issued a recall campaign for its 2012 V-Strom 650 and Burgman scooters due to a defect in the brake light activation switches. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rear brake lights may not activate when the rider squeezes the brake levers of the affected models. As a result, other road users behind the affected unit may not realize it is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.
