Only flaw on this bike is a small scratch on the right exhaust pipe, which Im pretty sure can be buffed out. The 2008 Hayabusas stock engine has been enlarged from 1,299cc to 1,340cc, and sports improvements including twin swirl combustion chambers that offer an 11% bump in output. Suzuki claims the Hayabusa produces a staggering 194 horsepower at the crank, and we believe it. Other improvements include a new 4-2-1-2 exhaust system, a hydraulic slipper clutch, and Suzukis Selective Drive Mode System (S-DMS), which allows engine power to be modified using a three-mode thumb selector switch. An audience of 45,050 fans watched a clean race from the rookie while errors by veterans like James Stewart and three-time reigning champion Ryan Villopoto knocked them out of contention. Villopoto had a strong start, taking the holeshot and leading the first eight laps, just like the Kawasaki rider had done so often the last few seasons.
FIM Updates Superbike Racing Homologation Lists for 2013
Tue, 19 Feb 2013The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) has released an updated list of motorcycles homologated for the 2013 Superbike, Supersport, and Superstock racing season. Notable additions include the new BMW S1000RR HP4, the MV Agusta F3 and the Superbike-spec Ducati 1199 Panigale R. To qualify a production-based racebike for FIM homologations, manufacturers have to meet certain production thresholds.
