Pabatco set up over 400 dealerships for the motorcycles and traded produce for them to get around currency exchange restrictions that were in place at the time. By 1963 they had a thriving business and had imported over 5000 motorcycles. In April of 1963 Yamaguchi stopped production and closed shop. Pabatco made an offer to Hodaka, who had been making the engines for Yamaguchi. Pabatco would design and market the bike and Hodaka would manufacture and assemble them." classicjapcycles. From my research I believe it to be Circa 1960 and began life as an "SP8" Scrambler 50 or 55. This little jewel has been in storage for many, many years and was recently cleaned, serviced, and ridden. Please see the Video with a 26 year old 200 pound rider filmed last week from in front of my home. I rode her around my neighborhood and was surprisingly excited afterwards. This little bike is so light and loud it was just great fun! Upon parking it, I did notice a bit of oil puddling below the carburetor. Further investigation revealed some previous crankcase seam repair. I imagine the bike was retired due to the oil leak and never raced again. Everywhere possible, it seams, holes have been drilled and other weight reduction measures of the time were employed. If anyone has any information or history of this machine, please, do NOT hesitate to share it with me and I will gladly include that information in this description.
