1985 is the first year Yamaha made the iconic 145 hp VMAX. Bike is in great condition, has very low mileage 17400 mi (28000 km) leisurely driven mainly on weekends. I am the second owner since 1988 and always kept the bike well maintained and stored in a heated garage during the winters. New fuel pump, new fuel filter, new battery, new oil filter, new ignition coils, new spark plugs, tires very good condition, carbs cleaned and rebuilt like new, SuperTrapp exhaust.

 I bought this bike brand new from the dealership in March 1988 and have only put 17454 miles on it.  It has always been garage kept and properly maintained.  I still love the bike, but am selling it because I have back problems.  I rebuilt the carburetors and brake and clutch cylinders and replaced the original brake and clutch lines with Hel brand lines about 4 years ago.  I put an Optima battery in it about 3 years ago (and highly recommend them).  The Metzler tires are about 2 years old.   The seat is a Corbin Canyon Dual Sport seat, a high-quality American-made seat that is much more comfortable than the original (which I have saved and am including with the bike -- the original seat is in near-new condition).  The Corbin seat is black with red welting. I have added a few custom touches on the bike.  I am a professional machinist, and I designed and made the scoop grill inserts, the low-profile convex washers that hold the Corbin seat on, and the honeycomb-pattern grilles on the back of the radiator housing.  The original grilles and original style retaining rings are included in the sale.  Other extras included with the motorcycle are a Tracy Wild One Fairing, in near-new condition; a King Cobra motorcycle alarm which would have to be reinstalled by the new owner (though the light is still mounted just below the tachometer); battery tender; and a bit of leftover oil.  There is some slight paint scratching and surface corrosion on the aluminum surface due to the age of the bike -- see photos.  It has not been mistreated and has never been crashed.  I AM HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.  The bike is located in Gaithersburg, MD, about 20 miles from Washington DC, 5 minutes from Interstate I-270.  You are welcome to come and inspect the bike.

BEEN SITTING SINCE 2013.  CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER IS NO GOOD, NEEDS TIRES, BATTERY IS MISSING.  GAS CAP HAS BEEN PRIED OFF, IT SITS IN TANK NECK JUST FINE BUT I WOULDN'T TRUST THE TANK UNTIL IT WAS CLEANED.  PAST OWNER CHANGES HANDLEBARS, PEGS, GRIPS AND MIRRORS.  RELOCATED TAG AND TAILLIGHT.  HAD TRUE 4X4 COBRA EXHAUST. I HAVE NOT HEARD IT RUN, HAVE NOT RIDDEN IT AND CAN GUARANTEE YOU WON'T PUT A BATTERY IN IT, AIR THE TIRES UP AND RIDE IT HOME..... THIS IS A PROJECT BIKE!!!!

I have a very nice 1985 Yamaha Vmax.  It has custom synergy green paint job.  Motor has been painted and polished, front end has been painted and polished,swing arm has been painted.

For sale is my 1985 Yamaha V MAX. The only reason I'm selling the bike is because I would like a 2008 GSXR 750 or up with low miles. This bike is very quick and draws a lot of attention( with the super-trap exhaust) Has been well maintained and I am meticulous about the oil changes and maintenance on the bike.

this is a restored 1985 yamah vmax.  the bike runs great, looks great and sounds great.  people are always checking it out when driving by or parked. has a custom paint job...except for some small things, we really tried to bring the bike back to its former glory.  the speedometer is not the original one, i had to buy a used one so the mileage is not correct.  i have had the bike for about 2 years and put 6000 miles on it.  when i say that it has been restored, the cases have been split and we replaced bearings, went throughout the entire engine and made sure that it was sound.
