Other Simplex Servi Cycle description

All Original Barn Find 1952 Simplex Servi Cycle, Very Rare!!

Here we have for sale a very rare and all original 1952 Simplex Servi-Cycle. I found this Simplex tucked away in an old barn about 15 years ago here in Reno. This is a pretty special bike, this bike is all original and untouched, this is one of the best, all original, unmolested, numbers matching Simplex Servi-Cycles that still exists. These are so hard to find, and especially in this excellent, original condition. This is something you just don't come across. Finding a Simplex with its original engine is just impossible, these little 125cc two stroke engines were not reliable and just never lasted, but this bike still has its numbers matching, original engine. The bike runs and rides just spectacular. The bike has been in Reno a very long time, if not, its entire life. This bike was in the local Harrahs Car Museum, probably 40+ years ago and before that, the bike was on display at a local bike shop in the late 60's, early 70's. It was actually at a bike shop were my dad worked at when he was a young kid. He remembers this bike sitting in the window of the shop. We may have a picture of it on display! I have all of the original manuals, and literature that came with this bike when it was sold new. I have a clean and clear Nevada title in my name for the bike. These Simplex motorcycles have a pretty neat history and they had a very long run but they were such an economical and cheap bike to ride when new, that they were just thrown away if they broke or had problems, and thats why so few of these exists and that's why they are so sought after and collected today. The paint on this bike is all original and untouched, the paint is in great shape! The blue and tan colors are really nostalgic and look great together. The decals are all original and are in pretty nice shape. The gas tank decals has some checking all over them and clearly scream, I am original! The handlebars and controls are all original and straight, the grips are original and nice, the cables are original and are in nice shape! The fenders are all original and have original paint and pin striping on them. The rear fender looks like it had a rack mounted to it, I have seen these bikes with racks on the back, that may have been what the holes are from. There is a little ding on the front fender and some light scratches on the very bottom near the nice original rubber mud flap. The lights are all original and the rear tail light is a deluxe glass lens style. The electrical all works great on the bike, the head light works and the tail light and brake light work. The lights are activated by turning a switch on under the gas tank. The kill switch on the magneto still shuts the bike off when you press down on it. The engine is a 125cc two stroke model that runs great! It starts up on the first kick and idles just perfect. The engine has two spark plugs on the head and is belt driven. The bike even has its original Simplex Servi-Cycle printed belts on it. Some teeth on one of the belts has come off but the bike still accelerates just fine and cruises nicely. The transmission works when you press down on the lever on the left side of the bike, and then you can go into a high gear with a switch of the lever back towards the rear of the bike. Really easy to use and still works perfectly. The wheels are all original with the original paint and the original black pin striping on them. There is some minor chips and scratches in the paint and the paint on the entire bike. But nothing unusual for a 64 year old original bike. The wheels are straight and the ear brake, the only brake, stops well. The only thing that is replaced on the entire bike is the tires, however, these are the exact replica Simplex Servi Cycle tires that were on this bike when sold new, so they are correct for the bike. They have very little use on them. In over 15 years that I have owned this bike, I have maybe put on 10 miles on this bike. Ive taken it to bike shows, and wowed the crowds but it was never used, but just put on display in my collection. That is were it deserves to be, displayed, and showed off to the world as an iconic motorcycle built in New Orleans. The seat is leather and is original on the bike, its pretty neat to see that old, weathered leather on the bike, some of the stitching has come loose but can been re-stitched and fixed again. The gas tank has a ding in the side of it and one side of the crash bar has a ding in it too. Very minor, but I guess it gives the bike character and even further solidifies that originality of this bike. The side magneto cover has a little JB Weld on it from a crack that must of formed on the edge of the cover, that should be removed and fixed and have the cover polished again. The original brake pedal cover is even on the bike! The green brake pedal cover is nice and has a little wear on it. Pretty special to see even that still intact on the bike. The exhaust is very nice and all original and has no issues with it. The original black paint is very nice and looks almost like new. The carburetor and air cleaner are all original and work and have been tuned perfectly to run here in Reno. The choke cable pull is located right in front of the gas tank and it still works properly. This bike is just such a rare find and such a collectors dream! You don't find these bikes in this beautiful original and untouched condition, with the original, running engine. Remember, they are only original once, that's what makes this bike special. I can store this bike for up to a month so that shipping arrangements are made.
