Vintage 1972 Penton 175 Jackpiner KTM AHRMA John Penton Enduro ISDE ISDT
Up for sale is a vintage 1972 Penton 175 Jackpiner enduro. Frame # is 20655667 and engine # is 2-5200613. According to various Penton websites, the bike has a build date of June 1972 and the engine decodes as a 175 built in 1972. I would say the frame and the engine match.
I would call this a survivor bike. The person I purchased it from said it was in the family since it was new and owned by various family members. It has been ridden like a dirt bike. Im sure parts have been changed, upgraded, modified, or moved around. The bike was kept in dry storage for a number of years. It has been dusty and some of the fluids leaked over the years and covers some of the forks and engine. The original fenders look to be long gone. Both the front and the rear have been replaced by plastic aftermarket ones at some time. They are worn and have been used alot. The wheels look to be period correct. The chrome is flaking off in areas. They look to be solid and usable, but will need to be rechromed. Tires are aged. They would be okay for rolling around the shop, but not for riding or competition.
The seat cover has come off the seat. It looks worse than what it really is. The seat more than likely dried out, then was sat on, and came apart. The cover has not come off from sitting outside for long periods of time. The rear leather bag is still attached and has great patina.
