Other Maico 440 description
I am selling a bunch of stuff for
my buddies widow. He left us too soon but had a nice collection of
bikes and spare parts. I know about some and don't know much about
other stuff. He had a few 400's CZ's, some flat track bikes and the 440 Maico. I'm not a Maico expert but with the help of a fellow vintage mx bro and some research here goes....
So what I have in this auction now is:
- a 1977 Maico 440/5 Maico
- According to the frame number and engine number this is a 1977 440/5 AW model. 1977 440 frames start with 330 and the motors start with R324
- Has a PVL ignition (see the pic of the coil and rotor) -
- New excel rear rim with stainless spokes
- Fox air shocks on the back
- Magnesium brake backing plate - OEM Maico hubs
- Nice Aluminum tank - not perfect but certainly nice (racer quality plus). I only spent about 5 minutes on it to get it to shine like it is now!
- Appears to have Maico handlebars - at least that is where the Maico decal is!
- this is a vintage motocross bike that is ready to race
- very nice seat - good fenders
- Looks like a twin air air filter.
- Motor serial number R3240483 - see the pics of the steering head plate.
- Frame serial number 3304171 - see the pics of the steering head plate
- Dave ran AHRMA Sportsman Novice so this bike was not ridden hard.
- I inspected the pilot and main jets (didn't need cleaning). I put some new gas in it and it started on the third kick today after not being ridden for about two years.
- Compression release.
- Very nice 36mm Mikuni carb - looks like the brass jets are new - maybe the carb is as well - see the picture
- Low expansion chamber with silencer
- Whirlpool throttle
- great overall original condition
- I believe the frame was originally red as seen if you look closely at the steering head pic
- will work with your shipper - possible delivery on the west coast for a reasonable fee
- This is for sale locally so if you really want it please don't wait to bid at the last minute as it will probably sell before the auction is over.....
- If you are still reading you know that these bikes do not come up for sale often so bid early and often!!!
- Sold with a bill of sale as these race bikes usually don't have titles.
What you see is what you are bidding on!! Thanks for looking.
There is just no way to guess shipping costs worldwide...... so....
If you are an international bidder please wait for an invoice before you pay so I can get a more accurate shipping cost!!
Not responsible for uninsured shipments. Will not ship overseas without insurance.
