Other Gilera 200 description
1969 Gilera 200 Super Rare Vintage Cafe Racer - Polished Aluminum Tank From Argentina with Love Model Details - You're not likely to run into many of these unless you're bombing around the streets of South America. Gilera simply didn't make nearly as many bikes as other manufacturers. In this era, they were focused on the South American market. Brazil and Argentina in particular. This bike was part of a large collection of vintage Italian bikes. It was showroom eye candy, for good reason. Please take a full tour of the bike at the following link -- http://s1382.photobucket.com/user/rootedowne/library/Gilera%20200 Exterior -- The polished aluminum tank is a rarity. Most were painted and/or chromed. The tank shape is vintage Italian cafe racer and flat out cool. Bars & Bucket -- The clubman style bars offer another cafe racer classic touch. The throttle cable clamp needs to be replaced. There is a headlight bucket speedometer "delete". It comes with a vintage speedometer, but it is not the correct Veglia that came on Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Gilera bikes of the period. Veglias complete with cables can be found. Side Covers & Chrome -- Chrome abounds on this bike. The vented side cover is classic Italian design. Notice the air filter instructions are in Spanish only. Side Covers, Pipes & Foot Pegs -- The passenger foot pegs are just awesome examples of Italian attention to design. Notice the teeth for grip. Nice touch. Polished aluminum side covers have the kind of luster time provides. They were removed to inspect engine. Inside looks great, but the left side should get a new gasket. The pea shooter muffler is another excellent example of how design mattered. Wheels, Tires, Hardware -- Nothing fancy here. Original equipment and in good shape. She's wearing a set of Pirellis. They have more age than wear. They aren't severely dried up and cracked. But I certainly wouldn't vouch for them straying to far. Seat, Etc. - The ribbed pattern is again a classic cafe racer touch. It is in excellent shape. It makes sense that it was replaced at one point. It's vintage at this point either way!
Numbers Matching - The VIN number on the frame and engine block match. Gilera simply did not keep careful records at the time. It was imported from Argentina quite some time ago. Sold with a Bill of Sale. Questions, Bidding, Shipping - I aimed to be thorough in my description and through the use of photos. I hope you had a nice tour! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call or text me at (816) 786-7534. Bidding -- reserve will be kept confidential out of respect for the auction process. If you just have to have it, give me a buzz. Shipping -- transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. I will make it very easy on my end. Thanks for looking. Good luck bidding! |
