I purchased this 1957 MATCHLESS G80S over thirty years ago from the original owner. I rode it on a couple of all British bike rides and have displayed it in my motorcycle collection since then. It has a genuine 6277 miles from new.
Totally correct and original apart from the addition of a more modern and more efficient air cleaner. This is a prime example of a classic British single cylinder "thumper". Very strong and reliable. Magneto ignition (needs no battery to run). Plenty of low end torque. Not the fastest 500 single out there but a real pleasure to ride. Virtually identical to the AJS Model 18 and similar to the BSA B33 and Norton ES2. Good running and riding condition. Clear California title in my name.
