Number 694 manufactured in March 1948          

This Vincent HRD was manufactured in a group of motorcycles destined for CIMACS in Buenos Aires. The factory record shows the inclusion of a 19 inch ribbed Avon front wheel, metric speedometer, Lucas magneto and horn, Miller 8” headlight and electrics, and Dural fenders. On April 22, 1948, this HRD completed its manufacturing cycle and was crated for shipment.

About 430 Vincents were eventually shipped Argentina to help England pay off its WW2 war debt of beef supplied by Argentina. Another 39 were shipped to Argentina’s northern neighbor, Uraguay.

It is believed the shipments of 600 Vincents to South America kept the Vincent factory going with much needed sales during the years immediately following WW2.Vincent’s production was 20 in 1946, 380 in 1947, 1000 in 1948, and reaching 3500 in 1949.

The “B” designation was given the new Vincent design immediately following the war to distinguish it from the Prewar version A. The “C” version came out in 1949, and the last version would be produced in 1955.

This “B” was imported into the US in 2002, found it in Argentina, and bought it from the family of Jose Cruz.
