1950 AJS 7R: Engine Number 50 7R 830.
HISTORY: I bought this 7R in the UK 40 years ago and since that time it has been stored in temperature controlled conditions. I have no known history of the 7R prior to my purchase.
ORIGINALITY: The 7R is completely original. See detail of some of the component parts: Engine Number: 50 7R 830. (see last picture) Burman Gearbox Number: G7R50E. 1950 Frame: Frame Number is not legible (painted over). Magneto: Lucas Racing. Carburetor: 1 1/8 inch Amal 10 TT. Tachometer: Smiths R.C. 83 Chronometric (0 to 8000rpm). Cross Brace under the fuel tank at the front. Alloy Wheel Rims: 21 inch Front & 20 inch Rear. "Candlestick" Rear Suspension Units. ("Jampots" were introduced in 1951) Racing Number Discs: Original composition board. Original wooden locator (for the remote float) inside the mounting clamp as shown in picture 11. Exhaust Pipe inboard of the frame down tubes. See picture 9.
CONDITION: This is not a 100 percent restoration. The 7R was painted more than 40 years ago prior to my purchase. There are some small cracks in the fuel tank paint and less than perfect paint on parts of the frame. I have purposely left the lower fork legs and the fuel & oil tank filler caps in their "as received" state and not "over polished" the parts. COMMENTS: 1) The engine is in running condition 2) Gear selection, clutch and brake operation are normal. 3) Oil is installed in the engine and gearbox. 4) The actual mileage is unknown and the listed mileage is an approximation. 5) Almost all of the fasteners are of the original Whitworth form but have not been correctly torqued or wire locked. 6) The tires are Front: Dunlop 3.00-21.00 & Rear: Avon Supreme 3.25-20.00. 7) The 7R does not have a Title. 8) Please do not ask for a "Buy it Now" price because I always allow my items to run the duration of the auction.
