Norton Commando description

Very nice low mileage original Norton Commando E start.  This bike I believe is a 1 owner and has 12,000 original miles.  Original bike owned for most of it's life by a family friend.  This bike is original to the Midwest.  Still has original Union key. Clear title in my name can be shipped worldwide without issue.

The Good:

- 4 brush starter spins like a top

- Yusa Gel Battery (1 year old)

- Good Front tire & brand new rear Dunlop k81s (See photos)

- Updated cosmetics: Professional Black paint, lined tank & pin stripes as original by Cliff Anderson

- 1n the 90's at 9500 miles the motor was freshened up by Steve Hamel and Head redone by Dick's porting (They typically split up engine rebuilds that way).  The owner was paranoid about 75's having a soft cam, and that was replaced, pistons, ring, valve job all done.  Bike still is standard bore and all original Norton parts were used, (Hepolites, Norton Cam (still have wrapper and Norton part number on it)  no junk, no pattern parts used.

- Motor is oil tight, no stripped exhaust ports broken fins etc. No smoke.

- A british expert recently did valve adjust, head torque, carb synch (Bike start, idles, and pulls to read-line in every gear)and clutch clean

- Tranny bearing that tends to go was also replaced but everything else in tranny was still in spec, shifts smooth through all gears

- Original 750 tuck in close headers were used at that time to eliminate the cross - tube

- Original Dunstall period correct mufflers.  Bike sounds great and pulls hard in every gear.

- H4 headlight conversion in the 80s

- Forks seals and bushing replaced in 2004, they did not really need it either (old parts included)

- Handlebar switch gear in good condition

- Original dash board in great condition with all idiot lights working

- Both Gauges were professionally rebuilt (Speedo shows 900 miles from this year, tach new as well)

- Seat cover replace to match new paint

- Solid state regulator Rectifier added

- Oil tank rubbers were replaced.

- Plug wires were replaced

- Both original side and center stand

- It has a boyer ignition but the entire points, auto advance assembly is included as removed

- Original seat lock is included but not currently mounted.

- Clear title in my name

Overall a MK3 that has been ridden with some functional upgrades, but still original frame and fender stickers, original rims etc.  Starts, rides and goes down the road and maintenance is current and ready to go!

The Bad:

- Front fender has had a ding pulled out behind front wheel, it never bothered me so I left it alone, other blemish as well

- The bike is 40 years old, it has original wire, frame paint etc.  you will find expected patina on chrome and frame and rims etc.  The Dunstall's show there age but they are original and I never changed them because they are impossible to find and they sound great.

- Airbox is included but was cut to steal the side cover mount

- Lucas blinkers / turn signals are off the bike but are included

- No tool kit

I can show this bike in the Minneapolis area for serious buyers. I can meet a shipper and help coordinate pick up for out of town buyers. Please ask all questions prior to bidding.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I will help as much as I can, also extra parts if wanted will be shipped at additional expense.  No warranty expressed or implied this bike is 40 years old.

Price William The Duke Of Ducs And Other Motorcycles

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, visited Britain’s largest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live, at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham. The visit saw the Duke astride numerous motorcycle models including UK icons Norton and Triumph as well as a Ducati 1199 Superleggera (one of the few men able to afford the $70,000 rarity). During his visit Prince William enjoyed a display of off-road riding – one of nine opportunities for visitors to ride at Motorcycle Live, eight of which are inside the halls of the NEC. He also met Dean Linehan, exhibitions director of MCI Exhibitions, the company that organizes the annual motorcycle exhibition.

Moto Electra Equips Electric Norton Race Bike with iPad Console

Fri, 14 Sep 2012

Moto Electra has found a new, innovative way to combine old and new technologies in its electric race bike. The Virginia-based Moto Electra has been an active participant in electric motorcycle racing for the last few years, competing against much larger, better funded teams with a race bike using an electric motor and 1950s Norton Featherbed frame. That melding of old and new has produced surprising results, including podium finishes in the TTXGP and victory in a race featuring both electric and gas-powered motorcycles.
