Norton Commando Mark 3 Roadster description

I've owned this bike since 2007.  Bought it with 14,400 miles the odometer - now at 28,400. It's been an amazing ride these past 14,000 miles. This bike rides and handles like a dream. It's had all key upgrades and meticulous maintenance over the years. Pictures below were taken today (July 13).  Note: this is not a “barn find” that would need another $5K-$7K to bring up to snuff.  All of that investment of time and money is  already done and road-tested.

Below is a partial list of the many upgrades I've done:

Appearance and styling:

-          Peashooter mufflers with adapter mounting kit from OldBritts

-          Euro-style bars (shorter and lower than stock)

-          Corbin Gunfighter seat

-          Rear sets

-          Hagon shocks

-          New chrome headlight holders

-          New front fender

Electrical:

-          Starter motor upgraded to 4-brush

-          Heavy duty starter / battery cables

-          High-output 3-phase alternator

-          Podtronics regulator/rectifier

-          Power Arc electronic ignition and dual fire coil

-          Shorai lithium iron battery

-          5K ohm spark plug wires/caps

Engine and Drive train:

-          New gearbox main shaft bearing, misc. seals and overhaul

-          Recent new chain

-          Replaced layshaft bearing at 20,000 miles

-          Barnet clutch plates

-          Valve job (Raber’s in San Jose, CA – in 2007)

Other:

-          Brake calipers (both front and rear) rebuilt with stainless steel pistons

-          Magura front master cylinder upgrade kit

-          Tank sealed with Caswell’s sealer

-          Stainless spokes and nipples on rear wheel

-          Avon tires

-          Single Mikuni 34 mm carb, K & N filter

-          Stainless fasteners everywhere – axle nuts, primary, gearbox, timing covers, etc.

-          Stainless braided oil lines

-          Stainless braided head oil feed line

-          Stainless braided rear brake line

-          Neoprene valve cover gaskets

-          Both tach and speedo were rebuilt

-          Venhill Teflon-lined clutch cable

-          Fork seals replaced recently

  • The Cons:

-          Bezels on tack and speedo slightly different (that way when I got it)

-          oil leak from primary area

-          2 of the 4 console warning light bulbs not working (high-beam and ignition lights)

I have no experience with shipping but can work with you on this end, if needed.

Moto Electra Equips Electric Norton Race Bike with iPad Console

Fri, 14 Sep 2012

Moto Electra has found a new, innovative way to combine old and new technologies in its electric race bike. The Virginia-based Moto Electra has been an active participant in electric motorcycle racing for the last few years, competing against much larger, better funded teams with a race bike using an electric motor and 1950s Norton Featherbed frame. That melding of old and new has produced surprising results, including podium finishes in the TTXGP and victory in a race featuring both electric and gas-powered motorcycles.
