I bought this 2011 Moto Guzzi V7 Classic brand new off of the floor. It is still show room clean. It has spent the majority of its life in my garage with several of my vintage motorcycles. Since it is not a vintage cycle, it does not require as much attention as the rest do, and therefore, does not get as much road time as I had originally intended. Hence the 1792 miles in 2 years. I have added a couple of upgraded parts to make it sound and run quite a bit better than what the factory sold me. The first thing I noticed when I bought it was the exhaust note, although most decidedly Italian, it was not the throaty, robust sound my old V7 Sport can produce. So I took away the mufflers with the catalytic converters and added stainless Mistral mufflers. Now that's the sound this bike needed. I opted to remove the baffles, but still have them in a box with all of the other parts I replaced. Next to adjust was the fuel/air mix. Because the bike is now breathing much better, it needed the computer to compensate for that. I added a Fat Duc O2 optimizer. This is basically a rheostatic adjustment for the oxygen sensor. It is dialed in for max performance and best running for the bike. No more over-lean conditions like when the bike was new. Aside from those 2 performance upgrades, I also replaced the cross-over pipe where the headers connect. It is a much smaller collector where the oxygen sensor screws in to the exhaust system. The benefit there, is said to be a little more performance. I think it makes access to servicing the gear box 100% easier. The rest of the upgrades are just aesthetic. I bought a set of Euro spec bars that are a bit lower, without being uncomfortable. I also opted to replace those huge mirrors that were hanging out in the wind with stainless Stadium bar-end mirros. A very high quality mirror that actually lets you look at what's around you, and not what your elbows are doing. Again, all of the original parts have been very carefully packed and stored and will go with the bike if, God willing, it sells. The bike was given the first service at 600 miles, per factory specs. I have since serviced it again using Motul oils and filters.
It's a very fun and easy bike to ride. It gives real confidence in the ability of the bike and rider, alike. It is not so powerful that it feels like it can ever get away from you. But it does have that incredible low end torque of a shaft driven bike that thrillingly propels you forward. The best way to describe it is that it is light and flickable like a dirt bike. I think that's what they had in mind. Great for the beginner, or just the cruiser. I just like cruising now. I'm looking to move on and find some more vintage bikes that need saving from the crusher. Being a consummate tinkerer, I need the next project, and then the next...

Convoys of Moto Guzzi enthusiasts and their bikes will set off from six European cities to meet in Milan on November 10th for the opening of the EICMA 2009 motorcycle show. On November 8th, the British Guzzisti participating in the first Where Eagles Fly tour will set off from London (other convoys will also be setting off from Madrid, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Vienna and Naples).
