Moto Guzzi Eldorado tech info
Moto Guzzi Eldorado description
I've been a Guzzi nut since high school - and that is a long time ago. Alas, reality is setting in here, so I've decided to offer some of my terrific vintage bikes to new caretakers. This '73 Eldorado is a really sweet bike and you'll search for a very, very long time to find a nicer one. I've owned this bike for about nine years, and is a bike that I have never considered parting with, until now. Winner of many first place awards including Best Moto Guzzi at Larz Anderson Classic in Brookline, Massachusetts, Best Big Block Guzzi at Italian Motorcycle Owner's Club Rally in Sturbridge, Mass, and first in class at The Vintage Bazaar motorcycle show in Salisbury, Mass.
The Eldo was treated to a very high-standard cosmetic and mechanical restoration at a long-time Guzzi/BMW shop near Chicago, a decade ago. I was fortunate to learn about this bike, as I had been lusting for a primo example for some years, and passed on I don't know how many that didn't meet my expectations. After purchasing the bike, I set about improving a few things here and there, including new Pirelli Sport Demon tires, wiring updates, installation of an unobtanium NOS Cibie Z-Beam headlight, a Dynamo Regulators DV4 solid state regulator, original Lucas front turn signals, Dietz-type rear turn signals, polished stainless generator cover and heavy-duty stainless generator mount, valve cover boot guards, Progressive shocks and springs, Mazda Miata/Westco battery, new Italian fuel taps that won't leak, fuel lines, filters a NOS chrome police side stand and who can recall what else? I even bought a '75 Police Eldo just to get the gorgeous set of original stainless cigar-style mufflers, which are installed on the bike. I located the DB "V" rear fender trim and had it restored. I purchased a set of correct vintage Wixom saddle bags, that were described to me as excellent. Well, they didn't live up to my standards, so the mounting hardware was then zinc plated, the bags refinished and hand pin striped to match the paint on the tank and fenders, perfectly. The latches and trim all removed then triple chrome plated. About $3K invested in the bags alone. The Eldo runs great, starts easily hot or cold - even after sitting unused for an extended time. She's a bit cold blooded and takes a few minutes to warm up where the enrichener can be closed the entire way. Shifts beautifully, handles great. I had the brake shoes arced to the drums, and the front brake can still be a bit grabby, so that could use some tweaking. One spot light bulbs needs replacing. There's a small paint chip on the right side of the tank, about the size of a Marks-a-lot pen tip. Also a small paint wear spot on the left front fender, where the brake cable housing rubbed against it. Any questions, feel free to call me, on +1 603.821.9588. Please leave a message and I will get back with you. Or send me a message here on eBay and I will call you back. This bike is located in Nashua, New Hampshire. I will store the Eldo for up to one month while you make shipping or pick-up arrangements, and I will work with your chosen shipper make for a convenient time to pick-up. I will work with you to ship the bike anywhere in the world. A $1000 Paypal deposit is due at auction's conclusion, with final payment by bank wire transfer or in ca$h within five days of the auction's close. The Eldo has a clear New Hampshire title in my name. Here's your chance to buy a really super nice Eldo, for a small fraction of what you'd pay for one from Cycle Garden. Thanks for looking. |
