Moto Guzzi Convert 1000 description

1981 Moto Guzzi Convert 1000. This is a 2 speed automatic which has proven over the years to be a highly reliable design. It is especially well suited to use with a sidecar or a trike style setup. This bike starts, runs and rides very well. Hasn't been ridden much in past couple of years and probably is due for a tune-up. Tank is clean, brakes are good, lights all work including brake light, horn works. Gears and clutch are good. Torque converter is good so works great as an automatic. Seat is good but has a couple of places that have been repaired. Tires have good tread and rear tire is fairly new. Battery is good. Wheels are solid and look good. Bike received new pistons and rings a couple of years ago. Also has timing gears rather than the original timing chain ($300 upgrade). Also has an "outsider" oil filter (another upgrade). The black paint is OK but shows its age. Bike has always been garaged. Overall, this is a good reliable old bike that has been ridden and taken care of over the years. The Piaggio Group reported a 7.3% decrease in net sales and a 9.0% decrease in net profit for 2012, thanks in large part to a sharp decline in demand in Europe including an all-time low for motorcycle sales in Italy. Piaggio reported net sales of 1.406 billion euros (US$1.842 billion) in 2012, down from 1.516 billion euros in 2011. Motorcycles and scooters accounted for net sales of 993.3 million euros (US$1.301 billion), a 3.1% decrease from 1.025 billion euros reported for 2011.
