Kawasaki Z1 description

I am relisting this bike after finding out that I had some misinformation on the fact that this bike was an original unrestored bike. I was contacted through the auction by someone who knew this bike and the fact that it was restored.   He graciously gave me what information he had which is detailed below.  As an avid Indian Motorcycle collector with some 40 bikes this Kawasaki was out of my realm of knowledge, I am sorry for the first incorrect listing and now here is what I now know.

It is 1973 Kawasaki Z1,  Frame # Z1F 00265, Engine number Z1E 00304

The bike was restored in 2001 to 2002 by Greg Walker who did an outstanding renovation.  The original bike was built in September of 1972 with now only 787 miles on it since its restoration.  I don't know much about the bike so ask questions and I'll answer them the best I can.  I am hoping to hear from the restorer to get more information and I will add it when and if I do.

The bike is in great condition but unfortunately the front hand brake lever tip was broken off in transport as well as some damage to the outer end of the grip. The last owner loved his low numbed bikes and this one certainly qualifies. Over the years it has it's small amount of light scratches but nothing glaring and is in excellent condition.

There is no battery in it but I have one and we are going to get it started in the next day or so.  This bike was on display for a while in the Motorcycle Museum in Newburgh NY and although incorrectly shown as we now know as an original the prior owner did have it judged and it was judged by the AMCA and reached Winners Circle.

I will be on a motorcycle trip form Friday June 10th through the19th but I will be checking my emails and I have someone available to confirm payment and shipping coordination during my trip.

Good luck bidding on great bike!!!

I've been asked about the engine number and it is Z1E 00304, also if the pipes have any numbers stamped on them and I can't find any numbers on them but I understand that the early Z1 exhaust weren't stamped.

As Promised now that I have heard from the original restorer of the bike here are his comments:

Hi,
I restored the bike for myself so the engine was completely rebuilt. New pistons, rings, valve guides. The gages are correct for an early bike,  the raised 20 speedo and Straight 7 Tach. It has Correct black foam seat. The pipes are OEM Kawasaki no number 1973 pipes. The do have the stainless steel collars. The paint was matched by Ralph Pitlock at Paintworkz with the early color for the first 1500 bikes. It has the correct black petcock which I sent to Eli to install a few years back. The date codes are correct except the front wheel which was an NOS 1975 wheel. Back then I opted for NOS or correct. An easy fix. The bike runs great I drove 300 + miles before Eli bought it. Eli loved the bike. I did write an article about the bike restoration for VJMC.

In another follow up from the gentleman that restored the bike in 2002, all the body work is the original body work to the bike.

One Final note, as promised before I left on my motorcycle trip Randy Zorn my restoration guy put a battery in the bike and fired it up, it ran perfectly.  Good luck bidding this is truly a great low numbered Z1!

Corbin Bleu Rides to Promote Free Style

Mon, 14 Sep 2009

If you’ve got a tween girl in your life you’re probably aware that High School Musical star Corbin Bleu has a new motocross-inspired movie “Free Style” coming out on October 9. Bleu and some of his co-stars were on hand at a Kawasaki event at Piru Motocross Park in Piru, California to promote the film and the actor/singer took to the track. Bleu got geared up and took a KLX110 and a KLX140 around the track to have a little fun.
