Kawasaki Y1 description

This TIME CAPSULE was just taken out of nearly 35 years of storage! ONLY 597 ORIGINAL MILES! It was put away in running condition and forgotten since the early 80's. Been in the family since it was almost new. We can not find the title but the bike is absolutely legit and legal to register for road use. I will provide a bill of sale and will also sign anything you need to get a replacement title from NJDMV including a sworn / signed affidavit from a lawyer if needed.

It will need the usual maintenance to get it back on the trail (or road since it is STREET LEGAL) like the fuel tank / lines / carb flushed out and cleaned and a good physical inspection of nuts and bolts for safety but nothing major or expensive needs to be done. Turns over easily with good compression. There is some light rusting inside the tank but nothing that cant be easily cleaned with commonly available tank restoration products. NEVER CRASHED! There are some light scratches and a few cuts in the seat. It may have been dropped (NOT DUMPED) once as there is a small dent in the tank which also can be removed easily. The dent could also have come from being in the garage all this time as it was literally buried under a pile of tools and equipment.  The headlight, taillight, turn signals and license plate bracket were removed back in the day and have long since been lost.  The only issue I can see is the wire harness / plug that went from the headlight to the tach has been cut but it can be repaired because it is a clean cut.

This was only used on trails which is why it has such low mileage and wear. Even the tires are ORIGINAL and still hold air! Everything is ORIGINAL from 1974 and in EXCELLENT condition for its age. Really needs to be freshened up, (not restored) to look great. I could easily take a few hours to do just that, but since you may want it preserved as-is I'll let you decide what you want to do with it.

The owner of this passed away at a very young age which is why it has been in storage for all this time. As you can expect, the family has a lot of sentimental and emotional ties to this and its taken about 10 years of "thinking about selling" it to get to this point. We are the second owner and our main concern is that it goes to a good home where it will be cared for and used by someone who truly appreciates it.  That said, this is priced just slightly above what the parts are worth because we want to deal with the end collector and not someone who is going to part it out.

That said, the price is somewhat negotiable for the RIGHT person, so if you are local and SERIOUSLY interested give me a call, come check it out and LETS MAKE A DEAL BECAUSE CASH IS KING!

I am selling this small collection of VINTAGE bikes which have been in storage since the 1980s.

Oh hi there Mobil!

There was a time when Grand Prix racing was a lucrative affair, with the bikes and their riders resembling the fag packets that sponsored them. However, two unfortunate and costly blows hit the paddock; the banning of tobacco advertising in 2005 followed by the global economic crisis. The off-shoot saw grid numbers drastically dwindle with staple teams, like Kenny Roberts' outfit, and manufacturers, Kawasaki and Suzuki, succumbing to the events and disappearing.

2014 AMA Supercross – Indianapolis Results

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Ryan Dungey captured his first win of the 2014 AMA Supercross season in a wild main event that saw two of the top title contenders crashing on the starting straight at Indianapolis‘ Lucas Oil Stadium. Smartop MotoConcepts Suzuki rider Mike Alessi took the holeshot for the second race in a row, but the big news was incoming points leader Ryan Villopoto and Ken Roczen going down before the first turn. Roczen trailed Villopoto by nine points going into the Indianapolis round, but the KTM rookie’s hopes of overtaking the reigning champion took a blow when he went down on the straight, knocking Villopoto off in the process.
