2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD, GREAT COMMUTER BIKE! - LOW SEAT HEIGHT AND FRIENDLY POWERBAND The Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD is a great, first-time buyer’s bike for those who want to enter the cruiser lifestyle, because its low seat height, friendly powerband and affordability make it easy to develop those all-important riding skills. The Vulcan 500 LTD gets its power from a 498cc parallel-twin, based on the same engine that powers the Ninja 500R sportbike. Liquid cooling helps this cruiser maintain consistent operating temperatures for longer engine life and sustained power. The engine has also been tuned to deliver power as suited to boulevard cruising as it is to more spirited riding. The six-speed transmission, complete with Kawasaki’s exclusive Positive Neutral Finder, allows riders to use the engine to its full potential. Equally user-friendly is the chassis, which has a long and low steel frame that contributes to the 500 LTD’s classic cruiser looks, and with a saddle that’s just 28 inches from the ground, it puts just about any size rider at ease. The KX legacy began in 1974 with the KX250 which was based on the works machine ridden by AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jimmy Weinert in 1973. The KX Dirt Domination page highlights the successes of the KX line over the last 40 years, including its astounding run in AMA Supercross and Motocross over the last decade.
Classic Japanese Bikes Highlight Bonhams’ Next Auction
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Bonhams’ annual fall auction, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, at Stafford County Showground is scheduled for October 20, 2013. Included in the auction is the above pictured 1974 Kawasaki H1-RW 500cc triple. Expected to sell for approximately $96,000 to $112,000, the Japanese works Grand Prix racer is one of only two machines built by the factory for the French Kawasaki importer SIDEMM for use in the 500cc World Championship. The bikes were ridden during the 1974 season by the French endurance racing specialist Christian Léon and French-Canadian Formula 750 star Yvon Duhamel.
