Kawasaki Other description
The Bike 1975 Kawasaki KZ400D custom Café conversion and restoration with 440 Engine. 5300 actual miles. See the last paragraph of this listing for a
laundry list of improvements made to this bike during the build. It has
undergone a rigorous restoration/conversion process, with the main focus being on
creating a unique “One Off” Café bike, with an “Old School” look
that is fast, reliable, and practical to ride and enjoy. The Build The major features
of this bike are a 440 engine upgrade, bored out to .25 over with new pistons,
rings, and wrist pins, gaskets, seals, professionally rebuilt carburetors with jetting, electronic ignition, new custom paint including
frame, new spokes and powder coated rims, shaved seat with new cover, and a streamlined lighting system that has
replaced the original, clumsy, protruding tail lights and turn signals. The bike also comes with 3 additional counter sprockets so you can set it up just the way you want it. Fast off the line, to freeway cruising, It is currently set for high gear cruising. If you check the last paragraph below it will list virtually everything I've done to this bike over the past year. The Story This bike has roughly 5300 actual miles, give or take,
and the engine has about 200 miles on it since rebuild. It runs beautifully, and reliably as you would
expect, and is actually relatively comfortable to ride, unlike most café
conversions. There are no oil leaks, and everything on the bike works
perfectly. Every time I drive this bike at least one person, and usually two, will tell me how much they like this old bike. It is a head turner for sure. I've owned the bike since 2006, when I bought it on Ebay. I drove it around for a month or two, put a few hundred miles on it, then parked it in my warehouse. About a year ago I decided I wanted to try my hand at a cafe conversion, so I uncovered it, and went to work. I've restored lots of Jap bikes over the years, and won my first concour competition at the Del Mar "Year of the Motorcycle" in 2012, but this experience was something very different for me. I went for a blend of customization and restoration, which are very much, two different animals. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and hopefully, you will be too. I know there is a pretty narrow market for these cafes, but I think the right guy is out there somewhere. Five minutes with Stuart Easton
Fri, 10 Aug 2012Stuart Easton has been the sole hope for Scotland in BSB since his friend and mentor Steve Hislop left us nearly ten years ago. Rat boy, as he’s known to friends, shone in the 125 and Supersport class and until his horrendous crash at the North West 200 last year was a serious contender for the 2011 BSB title. Many (including himself) thought his career may have been over but he astounded everyone by climbing back on the podium just a few rounds into the 2012 season.
WSBK 2013: Donington Park Race Report
Mon, 27 May 2013Tom Sykes had an outstanding weekend in front of his home fans, scoring a pair of wins at the World Superbike Championship round at the United Kingdom’s Donington Park. The Kawasaki racer led every session from first qualifying onwards, before leading all 23 laps in both races for the double. The double victory brings Sykes to within 4 points of series leader Sylvain Guintoli who had a decent weekend himself with a pair of podium finishes.
Colin Edwards Joins Forward Racing CRT Squad for 2012
Fri, 02 Sep 2011Colin Edwards will join the Forward Racing team to compete in the 2012 MotoGP season as a Claiming Rule Team entry. Edwards, known as a good development rider and an even better quote machine, is the first rider to officially sign on with a CRT. Forward Racing may be more familiar to some race fans by its former name, Hayate Racing, the outfit that ran the Kawasaki ZX-RR with Marco Melandri in 2009 after Kawasaki pulled out of MotoGP racing.
