Kawasaki Other description
2011 KAWASAKI Concours 14 ABS, 2011 KAWASAKI Concours 14 ABS, The Kawasaki 2011 Concours 14 ABS is a sport-oriented tourer that can pile on the miles yet still negotiate twists and turns in fine, Ninja.-inspired tradition. Powering the Concours is the same 1,352 cubic centimeter, DOHC, inline-four sourced from the legendary ZX -14 sportbike that generates excellent low- and mid-range power, all followed by a top-end rush that would turn most open-class sportbikes green with envy. This is thanks to its variable valve timing (VVT) system, which automatically alters camshaft profiles according to rpm to boost low-end and mid-range power without sacrificing top end. Updated electronics were also part of the Concours 14 upgrades. Not only was the bike s K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) braking system upgraded to offer two modes of linked, anti-lock braking, but a high-tech traction control system (KTRC: Kawasaki Traction Control) was added. KTRC not only reduces wheelspin, but it can be easily switched off at the rider s discretion. The Concours 14 s chassis consists of a unique monocoque frame that cradles the engine from above the frame s compact structure keeps the bike narrow and allows optimum packaging. The Tetra-Lever shaft drive uses a four-link design to offset the lifting and squatting tendencies of lesser shaft drive systems. Plus, it s virtually maintenance free. For those times when you just want to burn away miles, the fuel economy assistance mode switches the engine mapping to a leaner setting, boosting economy up to 25 percent. On the convenience front, the Concours adjustable windscreen now has a memory function. Standard heated grips keep your fingers in cool climes. And finally, Kawasaki s Intelligent Proximity Activation Starting System (KIPASS) works to ensure that the only person starting your bike is you. Proximity sensors located in the key fob and motorcycle enable the bike to start only if the fob is in range.
