Kawasaki Other description

Nice original low miles Kawasaki Zephyr ZR1100 for sale - less than 1,000 per year.  It has sat in my garage for the last six years with only weekend rides.  Prior to that, I used it as a daily commuter from Pacifica to Berkeley and on a few long rides throughout California and Nevada.

Recent service includes cleaned carburetors, installation of new intake manifold, new spark plugs, and new oil.  About a year ago, I replaced the tank and the seat with an original new tank and seat directly ordered from Kawasaki (the original twenty year old tank showed signs of surface rust on the inside of the tank).  The battery and fuel filter were changed about three years ago.  The past few years, the bike has been maintained at Lee Cycles in San Diego and they recommend new front fork seals and front brakes.  The fork seals show signs of failure as evidenced by oil ring residue build up on the top of the forks, but the suspension has not frozen and still works.  The Metzler Marathon tires are in great shape, show no signs of cracking or dry rot, and have plenty of tread left on them.  They were newly installed about 6 years ago – also at Lee’s Cycles.  There are scratches on the rear tail panel and the brake light due to my dropping the bike against a stucco wall on a slope (see close up picture).  I never fixed that because it does not affect the mechanical operation of the bike.  There are also scratches on the end/bottom portion of the original tailpipes from backing up into a high curb while parking.  There are also minor scratches from normal wear and road debris in exposed areas in particular the front of the bike right behind the front wheel.  Please utilize the zoom feature on the many pictures I took to get a good idea of the condition of the body.

Mechanically, the bike is in excellent shape and always starts right up.  The choke works as it should, the engine purrs, and the gears shift.  I would not hesitate to ride this bike across the country tomorrow and would expect it to perform flawlessly - the inline four cylinder engine is very reliable and powerful with a lot of torque.  The bike has never been dropped while riding and has been adult ridden and maintained (gently clicking through gears, no hard acceleration, no hard turns, spinning of the tires, stunts, drag racing, or other abuse).  When self maintained, every bit of care has been taken not to strip connecting parts and have been torqued to manufacturers recommended specifications.

Bike currently has 19396 total miles on it.  Incidental miles may be added prior to new owner taking possession of bike.  Bike has been honesty and accurately described with all known faults disclosed and is being offered "as is" with no warranty express/implied.  Potential buyers are welcome to come and inspect and test ride in San Diego (with government issued identification, collateral, and/or proof of insurance) prior to bidding.  Feel free to email me with any questions and I will respond promptly.

Buyers are responsible for pick up of vehicle in San Diego.  For international buyers, California license plate is included and I will deliver to any port or carrier in San Diego that is prepared to receive the bike and provide me with a receipt.  Buyer must accept F.O.B San Diego, CA - meaning buyer is liable for loss/damages once the bike is delivered to the carrier or once you take possession of the motorcycle if you are picking it up in San Diego.  For buyers in California, the motorcycle is registered through February, 2014 and already paid fees are transferable as credit to the new owner.  Bike is being advertised locally and seller reserves right to end auction early due to local sale.

2014 AMA Supercross – Oakland Results

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

With three different racers tasting victory in the first three rounds of the 2014 AMA Supercross Championship, the season was shaping up to be one of the deepest and most competitive fields we’ve seen. But at Round Four at O.o Coliseum in Oakland, Calif., Ryan Villopoto showed why he remains the top dog, leading each lap for his second win of the season. The Kawasaki rider only trailed at the very start of the race, as Honda rider Vince Friese took the holeshot with Yamaha‘s Justin Brayton slotting in second through the first corner.
