1980 Kawasaki KZ1300 Touring light project. Clean and clear title, ready to transfer. Has not been on the road in several years but is in very good original condition. Original paint in rare blue looks great. 3,727 miles on the speedo but title says exempt so actual mileage can not be verified. Bike will start for a second with a good battery with choke on but will not stay running. Will probably need carbs cleaned and a tune up at the least. All electrical works, electric start, lights, signals, etc. Front and rear brakes are in working order. Throttle moves free and snaps back. Solid original exhaust. Shifts thru all gears. Tires hold air but have some weather checking. Key was lost over the years but all locks are unlocked and ignition works with any key. Good solid, all original project. Fri, 07 Jan 2011We all like to save a shilling if we can, especially these days, but sometimes, doing a job yourself, cutting corners and generally grubbing round being tight fisted actually ends up costing you more money than biting the bullet and putting your hand a bit deeper into your pocket to get a proper job done. The problem is, I come from a long line of, erm, frugal Yorkshire b####rds going back generations, and I seem to be hardwired as a bit of a skinflint. My dad, although never actually short of money, that I could remember, didn’t like spending it.

It was August 1980 and Lawson was undergoing a titanic scrap for the AMA title with Wes Cooley and Freddie Spencer here at Pocono Raceway in Philladelphia. The circuit is known as the 'Tricky Triangle' amongst the NASCAR drivers but the superbikes used a mix of infield and sections of the banked circuit.
