Kawasaki KZ 1100 description

Lower Reserve

Up for auction is a super clean, fast and cosmetically excellent 1982 Kawasaki KZ 1100A Shaft. Title is clear and is in my name and on hand.

These vintage 80's superbike are increasingly hard to find and make for tremendous value in terms of power,  reliability, and fun riding anywhere you want to go, whether it is around the block or on a trip.

It starts, runs, idles well, shifts up and down through all gears and stops quickly with the assistance of 3 disc brakes. Featuring virtually maintenance free shaft drive, it means that messy chains and associated lubes are 2 less items requiring owner assistance. The Kerker aftermarket exhaust emits an intoxicating note without being obnoxiously loud.

Bike features super bars with matching aftermarket custom grips, Kerker header and mufflers, Individual carburetor air pods, new tires, new battery, new starter. This model also has rear air shocks with adjustable dampeners as well as air-assisted front forks.

This Kawasaki has 1,450 miles on a professional top end rebuild done by retro bike shop. All carbs are clean and well-synched, as throttle can be applied evenly without any stumble or hiccup up to 7500 rpm where I have run it.

All lights, turn signals, brake lights function 100%- it can pass state inspection with ease. I have it licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. The bike does not leak any fluids. I have just spent over $500 for professional oil change and overall engine, transmission, and final drive inspections for the bike. Tach and speedo as well as odometer work fine, but speedo needle bounces a bit over 50 mph.

This KZ1100 is a fun blast around the block or out on the open road; its 100 plus horsepower makes for great highway riding as well. Torque component is excellent, meaning that it can be in 4th gear and loafing at around 30-35 mph without stumbling.

If you have any questions about the bike, please feel free to email me.

The reserve is below market value.

Title in hand and in my name- no hassles with registration.

Bidders with 0 feedback, please email me before you bid- bids will be cancelled otherwise.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding on this great classic bike.

Mon, 16 Apr 2012

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the ground-breaking Kawasaki Z1 which made its public debut in 1972, becoming what many would regard as the world’s first superbike. Kawasaki’s first large-capacity four-stroke multi-cylinder motorcycle took center stage at the 1972  IFMA, the precursor to the INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany. Together with the Honda CB750, the Kawasaki Z1 helped spearhead the popularity of the Japanese Inline-Four.

The sport of drifting in the car world has been entertaining motorsports enthusiasts for years, spawning national race series across the globe.  And this genre is now gaining a foothold in the motorcycle world. In the video below, we see these worlds collide as a Corvette-powered Mazda RX-7 battles a stretched Kawasaki ZX-10R in a drift competition produced by Icon Motorsports.
