2012 Kawasaki KLX 110L, 2012 Kawasaki KLX110L Review
The standard KLX110 – with its reliable four-stroke engine, automatic-clutch drivetrain and electric, push-button starter – is much-loved by kids, beginners and adults for its unreal fun-factor and riding ease. But to expand the KLX110’s envelope a bit – make it even more accessible to even more riders – Kawasaki developed the KLX110L, which incorporates features designed to appeal to a slightly larger, slightly more advanced rider – along with all those adults who love riding the little green bikes.
Taller Suspension and Manual Clutch Expand the Possibilities
The standard, shorter, KLX™110, with its reliable four-stroke engine, automatic-clutch drivetrain and easy to use push-button starter, is beloved by children and adults alike. Building on the wide appeal of the KLX110, the KLX110L takes a good thing and enhances it even further. The L-model incorporates several key features that make it accessible to an even wider range of riders, allowing those slightly larger, slightly more experienced riders to climb aboard and enjoy the smile-producing euphoria of these little green thumpers.
The L-model is slightly taller than the standard 110, due to its 2.4-inch longer fork that has 5.5 inches of travel and a longer shock out back, which offers 5.2 inches of wheel travel. This results in a seat height of 28.7 inches – nearly 2 inches higher than that of the standard KLX110. Naturally, the suspension comes with optimal spring and damping settings, giving those slightly larger riders the ability to push the KLX110L as hard as they choose.
More experienced riders often demand the superior control of a manual clutch, so the KLX110L gets one to complement its four-speed gearbox. This combination lets more aggressive riders wring every drop of performance from the 111cc four-stroke engine. Convenient push-button electric starting helps make the KLX110L easily accessible to a wide range of riders.
The Kawasaki design team outfitted the KLX110L with a fuel tank, seat, side panels, shrouds and fenders that mimic the race winning KX™450F’s. An MX-style seat is part of the package, along with a handlebar shape optimized to provide excellent comfort and control to a wide variety of riders. In other words, this one’s for kids of all ages. 2014 WSBK – Portimao Results
Mon, 07 Jul 2014Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes extended his championship lead while a Race Two collision between Aprilia teammates Sylvain Guintoli and Marco Melandri provided drama in the World Superbike Championship round at Portugal’s Portimao track. Sykes qualified on the pole in a sun-draped Superpole session but the clouds rolled in on race day, forcing teams to plan for mixed weather. An overcast sky presided over a dry Race One, leading to a mix of tire choices but all of the racers switched to wet tires for Race Two that saw the scheduled 20-lap length reduced to 18 laps.
