Kawasaki KLR description
Located in Boone, NC 28607. I bought this bike as a project and a project it
was! It took me a while but I learned a lot and enjoyed the process.
It is not perfect looking but is a beast! It was dropped lightly when I
got it, see pics. Clear NC title. The motor was off the bike when I
got it. The KACR spring had let loose and caused problems in the head,
the cams and journals were scoured. The previous owner had started to
mess with it, then sold it to a local pawn store who started to mess
with it more and after about a year of it sitting in a pile of parts in the
back of the shop I finally got it! I sent the head to Eagle Mike but he
said it couldn't be fixed, IDK, but I got a good used head. The following is
a list of stuff I have done, in no particular order and I have
receipts:
-Used head & cams, seats & valves cut, valves tipped & new stem seals $600.00 -685 piston kit $295.00 -Bore & hone cylinder $100.00 + $75 shipping for all. -Complete Doo Hickey Kit w/ torsion spring $138.00 -Clutch cover gasket (cleaned out oil screen) $19.95 -Low profile magnetic oil drain plug $8.95 -New clutch cable $9.95 -NGK spark plug $7.49 & extra -Manual petcock w/ no vacuum $24.95 -New fuel line $3.00 -Inline fuel filter $5.29 -KLX carb jet kit $40 slide drill mod -Carb screw upgrade kit $5.00 -Front master cylinder screws $2.00 -Choke & mirror relocation bracket $16.95 -Drill through sub frame upgrade kit $24.00 -Exhaust gasket $6.18 -HiFlo oil filter x 2 $7.52 -Uni air filter $20.95 -Uni care kit $17.95 -Thermo-Bob 2 $125 -Dash overlay $9.00 -Tires $114.90 + new front & rear tube $40 + $30 mount & balance = $184.90 -LED bulbs & flasher $38.97 -Myler’s radiator $230 & custom radiator guard $10 -New brake & clutch levers $20 -New grips $10.00 -New battery $88.59 -Happy Trails heavy duty shifter & carb T vent kit $42.23 -Mosfet regulator/rectifier & wiring kit $130 -Blade fuse upgrade/mod $16.62 -Crankcase breather mod $25 -SW Motech crash bars $170 -Air box clean out & mod(no holes drilled, will explain if interested) $10 -Jeff Saline headlight relay mod 2 relays $13.86 -MC mod (advanced timing) -Speedo fix mod -Removed side stand safety & clutch safety -Exhaust low buck mod $10 -Cleaned & lubed gas cap -Clymer manual $25 -All completed @12,298 miles So it's clear this is a 685 CC bike, it's a beast! All receipts provided for proof. If you don't know what some of this stuff is you should joint KLR650.net and learn if you are gonna own a KLR! Of course I'll tell you though! Forgot to mention! The gas tank is/was clean with no rust! When I first put gas in I used Ethanol free high octane gas and since is has had nothing but E free high octane! Mike was kind enough to clean out the carb for me and put the KLX in too. So it's clean, clean clean! The aluminum rack on the back has a crack in it but is still solid, I may be able to get it welded soon. So why the hell am I selling it!? No kids on the way, no big move or any other crap like that. I just don't enjoy riding it. It was more fun to work on! Got it running, went on a few rides with it and just found that when I had the time to ride I wanted to ride my other bike, an SV1000. Locally on CL too. |

Community Tip: How to Shave your Motorcycle Seat
Thu, 30 Jul 2009Motorcycle communities are a huge resource for any kind of project or help you might need. It’s incredible the amount of stuff people post and the effort they put into it! arturo3rd on Kawiforums.com posted some great tips and photos on how to shave down your motorcycle seat for a more comfortable ride. Things you’ll need: flat screwdriver pliers sharp knife(steak) rough grit sand paper staple gun I’m unsure if all motorcycle seats are made of the same material so be wary before you start if your motorcycle isn’t a Kawasaki.
2014 Kawasaki KSR Pro Announced
Fri, 01 Nov 2013When Honda introduced the Grom earlier this year, it kicked off a renewed interest in the monkey bike, small-sized motorcycles with a high fun-factor that made up for its single-digit horsepower output. Suzuki is on board, announcing a new electric mini-bike concept called the Extrigger. But we’d be remiss if we forget that Kawasaki has been producing a mini-bike of its own for the Asian market.
