Kawasaki GPZ description

Amazing bike, very rare. One of the hottest bikes of the 80's and able to beat most 650 and 750 class bikes. Only selling because I had some medical expenses come up and I have a touring bike that I use more often. I hate to let the bike go but I need the money.

Done by previous owner within the last year at Kawasaki dealer:
Front forks serviced
Carbs cleaned and rebuilt with Dynojet stage 1 kit
KN air filter in airbag
Fresh Oil and filter
Ignition Timing set
Stainless front brake lines
Brakes flushed and new pads. Calipers cleaned and inspected
Brand new tires, still have the hairs on them except in the exact center of the tire.
I put less than a hundred miles on them...
New grips
Cables lubricated
New battery
Professional White paint job in clear coat and extremely expensive correct decal kit applied under clear coat.
New plugs and boots

Done by me last month:
Slight corrosion in fuse holder cleaned up
Cleaned carbs and checked fuel level
Small crack in air box sealed
Timing chain adjuster cleaned and freshly lubricated
Checked valve clearance and learned that it is out of spec and needs smaller valve shims
The good news is the cams are great. It has the hottest cam profile for the GPZ, the one with two grooves in the cam shaft.
Tank cap/vent system cleaned and reassembled
Checked tank for rust, no rust in carbs or tank was found

I have a clear title for the bike as well as the original service manual with most of the early service recorded in it.

The bike starts and runs excellent. It has flat power above 6k RPM until it's warmed up, which is consistent with the valves needing an adjustment and/or needing a new coil. There is no rust in the commonly rusted area where the rear suspension is. There is chipped paint and surface rust on the center stand which is normal.

Max Biaggi Tests Pirelli Angel GT Tires on an Aircraft Carrier – Video

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

Pirelli sure knows how to make an impression. Is there a more dramatic way to test the stopping ability of Pirelli’s new Angel GT sport touring tire, than on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier? After all, these surfaces are used to the physics of 30,000-pound fighter jets decelerating from 150 mph to a dead stop in a matter of seconds.

The Best Racetrack You’ve Never Heard Of

Sat, 08 Nov 2008

Last week I had the opportunity to ride one of the best tracks in the world, but you’ve probably never heard of it. It’s called the Autopolis International Racing Course and is located in northern Kyushu, Japan, a 90-minute bus ride from the nearest city, Kumamoto. Autopolis is a wonderfully flowing, 2.9-mile track that rises and falls like a symphonic overture, with inclines that range up to 7.2% uphill, 10% downhill.

Kawasaki World Debut At AIMExpo

Mon, 11 Aug 2014

Kawasaki has chosen the 2014 American International Motorcycle Expo as the venue to make the world debut of a yet unannounced motorcycle model. The model launch will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, this October 16-19.  “AIMExpo demonstrated last year that it can serve as the ideal platform for media and brand activities and Kawasaki will leverage this grand stage to reveal new products, as well as interact closely with dealers and consumers,” explains Kevin Allen, Kawasaki Manager, PR + Brand Experience. “We have some very exciting new product to share and AIMExpo is the perfect place to make these announcements.” Attendees will also witness the North American introduction of all-new vehicles in several categories from Kawasaki. Following the unveilings, all products will then be on full display for all to see inside Kawasaki’s booth (#2165) out on the AIMExpo show floor.  “Kawasaki joins an expanding list of key companies that sees AIMExpo as the perfect means to infuse energy into the powersports business in North America,” says Larry Little, Vice President and General Manager, Marketplace Events Motorcycle Group.
