Day 6 Dakar 2014: Duclos Wins Stage, Palante Found Dead

Sherco rider Alain Duclos took today’s stage, eight years after his first win in Bamako. With three top five finishes this year Duclos has proven his own increased competitiveness as well as that of the Sherco 450 Rally bike he’s aboard. In more tragic news, the body of Belgian rider, Eric Palante was found Friday morning on a part of the fifth stage route that riders completed on Thursday.

Ohlins Chooses KTM 250 SX-F for 2012 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships

Öhlins USA announced its AMA Supercross and Motocross team will use the KTM 250 SX-F for the 2012 season. Team Öhlins will enter three riders in the 250 class for both the indoor Supercross and outdoor Motocross championships. The Moto GP 2 stroke era finally ends.

It might have been the fumes of the 40:1 fuel mix but I had a tear in my eye when the chequered flag came out for the last ever competitive two stroke race in the Moto GP paddock on Sunday at Aragon. With two riders on the sick list twenty two identical single cylinder KTM 125s buzzed round for fifteen laps of mayhem and sometimes eight abreast heading into the first and last corners. The sight, sound and smell were fantastic and the clean close racing was a fitting end to a very special era.
