The KTM 690 is ready to reward you with a rush of adrenaline every time you jump on its saddle. The motorcycle is powered by a competent engine, features a capable chassis and delivers great off road performances.

In terms of comfort, the 690 Enduro R puts ergonomy on the first place and we especially like the nonintrusive fuel tank, the low seat height and the perfect angle of the handlebars.

The motorcycle is propelled by a 690 cc, water-cooled LC4 single-cylinder engine which cranks out 49 kW (67 hp). For maximum performances, the 690 cc unit is combined with an electronic engine management system which features fuel injection. It s also worthy of being mentioned that the engine management system allows you to choose from three different mappings.

The KTM 690 Enduro R is also equipped with a set of Brembo disc brakes (300 mm front and 240 mm rear).

OVERVIEW

KTM 690 Enduro R

Powerful engine, cool look, fantastic chassis set-up and optimum ergonomics - the KTM 690 Enduro R unites outstanding offroad qualities with unbeatable all-round ability. It feels just as home in the city and on rural roads as it does on gravel and tough terrain. The high-torque single-cylinder combines the classic Enduro concept with state-of-the-art technology and sporty all-round ability with suitability for everyday use. Perfect workmanship and impressive details reflect the typical KTM philosophy.

INJECTION / ENGINE MANAGEMENT

The electronic engine management system featuring fuel injection offers the rider the choice between three different mappings for influencing the engine characteristics. The "electronic power throttle" ensures that the throttle commands from the rider are translated electronically into the optimum throttle valve opening at all times, which gives rise to tremendously progressive power development.

FRAME AND SWINGARM

KTM 690 Enduro R

Despite its thoroughbred offroad chassis, the 690 Enduro R also numbers among the curve-bandits on the road. Two major contributors to its excellent tracking stability are the lightweight tubular space frame made from chrome-molybdenum steel and the high-quality die-cast swingarm - both of them extremely torsion-resistant.

SUSPENSION COMPONENTS

By professionals for everyone: The new 2013 KTM 690 Enduro R s WP upside-down fork, with a whole 250 mm of suspension travel and 48 mm outer tubes, is adjustable in many ways and masters the balancing act between everyday, road and offroad use with the greatest of ease. The pivot-arm articulated WP pressurised-gas monoshock with 250 mm suspension travel even features high-speed and low-speed compression adjustment.

2022 KTM RC390 Review - First Ride

Mon, 04 Apr 2022

A more focused lightweight sportbike Credit: Photos by Casey Davis Since its debut in 2015, the KTM RC390 has represented the pointed end of the lightweight sportbike spectrum. Aggressive in its styling, and dedicated to its Ready to Race brand promise, the RC390 has always been pitched as a fun little track bike that also happens to be street-legal with enough comfort for daily duty. This has caused the little KTM to be lauded with praise at the track in our previous comparisons, but at the same time, that attitude has caused the Kawasaki Ninja 400 to come out on top as a better well-rounded motorcycle in our last two comparisons.

Just Another Duke in the KTM line-up

Sun, 23 Aug 2015

In one of KTM's branded parking lots in Europe, a disguised motorcycle was spotted with a new engine, the estimated volume of which is 800 cm3. It seems that the Austrians are working on a plan for a serious attack on the road segment in 2016. The motorcycle looks like the Duke series.

2014 Bajaj Pulsar 375 – The Fully-Faired Indian Version of the KTM 390 Duke Spied

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Indian website Powerdrift has uncovered photographs of what it claims to be a Bajaj Pulsar 375, a faired sportbike based on the KTM 390 Duke. A Bajaj-branded version of the 390 Duke should be no surprise. The Indian company, after all, owns a 47% stake in Austrian-based KTM, and it released its own version of the 200 Duke in the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.
