KTM Developing RC8-Inspired 250cc Sportbike for India

KTM is reportedly developing a new small-displacement sportbike for the Indian market, featuring similar styling to its flagship RC8 sportbike. The new model is expected to use a 250cc single-cylinder engine, leading some to label it the KTM RC25 or KTM RC250. We’ve heard reports of KTM working on a small-displacement sportbike before, most recently in late 2012 with KTM Chief Executive Officer Stefan Pierer saying a faired version of the 390 Duke is on its way, but it now appears a 250 version is on its way as well.

If you’ve never seen a sidecar race, you’d be amazed at how different it is from motorcycle racing. Not only do you have some entirely different physics at work with the third wheel, you also have a passenger sprawled over the chassis behind the rider, sticking his body out to either side at lean angles that would make Marc Marquez break a sweat. Riding KTMs on Ice – Video

Much of Europe has been absolutely hammered by ice and snow over the last couple of weeks, with some places like Rome momentarily banning motorcycles and scooters from public roads due to safety concerns. The cold snap didn’t stop the people behind the Dutch site Oliepeil.nl from having a little fun with the help of KTM. Oliepeil.nl took a KTM 500 EXC dirt bike, a  525 XC ATV and a KTM X-Bow car onto a frozen area in the Heteren region of the Netherlands for some ice riding.
