2003 Ktm 65 SX, Great Youth Bike! - To use the maximum displacement for its class, the stroke grew from 40 to 40.8 mm and a displacement of 64.85 cc. An aluminum kick-starter instead of the former steel lever saves weight and a new joint makes it easier to operate. To save more weight, the ignition cover is also made of aluminum. The 65SX is now equipped with a state of the art digital ignition.

Movie: The John Penton Story
Wed, 06 Mar 2013John Penton was one of the most influential figures in the development of off-road motorcycle racing in America during the 1960s and ’70s. His life’s story is triumphant and tragic. When his attempts to convince Husqvarna to produce a smaller, lighter motorcycle fell on deaf ears, Penton created his own design and commissioned KTM, a small moped and bicycle maker in Austria, to build it. The motorcycle was an instant success in off-road competition and led KTM to expand its efforts in the motorcycle realm, initially in conjunction with Penton and ultimately on its own.

OEMs Plug into Electric Bikes
Sat, 01 Nov 2008KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.
