2004 KTM 950 Adventure extremely low miles (2004)
This bike was never started or ridden from the moment it arrived at the original dealership in 2004 until just a few months ago in 2013!. It was placed into heated/dry storage in brand-new condition back in 2004 and stayed there until May of 2013. I bought the bike from the original owner and put the first and only miles on it. It now has just under 3000 miles on it. I've ridden it this summer and now am offering it for sale. It is totally stock with the exception of the KTM low/gel seat that I installed (the stock seat was tall and hard - so I sold that) and also the supermoto front fender I installed as well while modifiying the original stock fender to just the rear section in order to support the front brake hoses. I also subbed out the stock plastic hand-guard half-clamps for some nicer looking aluminum ones - otherwise the bike is 100% stock and in orginal condition. Everything is in working order and obviously it has its entire useful life left ahead of it. Unfortunately the bike did fall off the side-stand in my driveway of all places while on a very slight slope - so there are some scratches in the left tank and center panel. The black plastic bumper piece in the picture below the scratches will be replaced - I ordered that from KTM and will arrive in the coming days. Otherwise the bike is being sold as-is. First if you are a pavement lover move on...this bike has and is used as it was designed. The tires are at 50-60%, includes a set of aluminum panniers with expandable top racks, SW mototech crash bars, black dog bash plate, FMF exhaust system, 60csx mount and wire (GPS NOT included), led headlight, a set of heated grips (not on it come with it), fresh chain and sprocket, cyrca hand guards, recent battery, and the plagued water pump seal has been replaced. The suspension was professionally re-valved and restrung for rider/luggage combination of 260 pounds. As we discussed in our 2021 Heavyweight Naked Bike Spec Shootout, the 1290 Super Duke R (along with the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS) is one of the few bikes in the comparison that does not offer some form of electronic suspension. That’s going to be rectified with the new 1290 Super Duke R EVO which receives a next-generation WP APEX semi-active suspension.
