Indian Announces ‘Honoring Heroes’ Incentive Program

Today, Indian Motorcycle announced the Honoring Heroes incentive program which supports North American military personnel. Furthering a “nearly 100 year commitment to Armed Forces,” Indian will give any active, reserve, National Guard, and retired military personnel a $1,000 incentive towards the purchase of any new Indian Chief models. Indian Files EFTR Trademark for an Electric Motorcycle UPDATE

UPDATE (June 12, 2020): An Indian Motorcycle PR representative reached out to comment on this story, explaining that the EFTR will NOT be an electric version of the FTR, but rather a “youth-oriented product” that will be announced later this year. Here’s the full statement from the Indian Motorcycle PR team: “The trademark application upon which Motorcycle.com based a recent story written by Dennis Chung on June 10, is related to a new youth-oriented product that will be unveiled later this year, and is not related to a new electric version of the FTR 1200.” We’re leaving our original story below, but here’s our take on the clarification. The term “youth-oriented product” can mean a lot of things, from children’s balance bikes to mini-bikes like the Honda Monkey to an entry-level motorcycle.

2014 Indian Chief Priced at $18,999, Set for Debut at Sturgis

The storied Indian Motorcycles brand will enter a new era this August at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with the debut of the 2014 Indian Chief. Powered by the  all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, the new Chief will be the first new Indian motorcycle introduced after the company was acquired by Polaris Industries in 2011. To prepare for the launch, Polaris has released a new image and video of the new Chief, and announced it will be available in North American dealerships later this year with prices starting at $18,999.
