Indian Chief description

I got this bike last month from an estate, it had been sitting as an indoor display for years.
I got it running and it all works fine, runs & rides good. Ive put about 100 miles on it since it then.
the paint looks pretty good, but theres a few small marks & scratches, & one lifted chip near the right gas cap, see pics.

frame & engine numbers do not match. The title says its a 1940, & its titled to the engine, which going by the numbers, CCH, is a 38. the frame # is really hard to read but looks like its dated 45.
the correct 1938 cylinders are there, and in nice shape. the heads look to be from the 40s

as far as I know, the parts are original, not repop, but I'm no indian expert.

shipping is up to the buyer, but I can help arrange enclosed shipping anywhere in the US for 450.00, with an actual bike shipper, not some clown from u-ship with a 30 year old pickup loaded with goats.

overseas buyers are welcome, but shipping is up to you.

full payment due within 7 days, 500 deposit due upon purchase thru paypal
the balance to be paid with a check, bank transfer, or cash at pickup.

I dont mind storing it for a month if you want to come get it or arrange shipping

Indian Announces Two-Tone Paint Schemes For 2015 Lineup

Mon, 14 Jul 2014

Indian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, announced today in a sneak preview of its model year 2015 lineup that the new model year would also bring a return of the classic two-tone paint scheme the early Indians were known for. The much anticipated vintage paint palettes were on-display over the weekend for fans of classic motorcycles at Vintage Motorcycle Days 2014 in Lexington, Ohio. The iconic two-tone schemes will build on the overwhelmingly positive response to the current 2014 Chief range, known for its hi-torque Thunder Stroke 111 motor and precise handling, thanks to Indian Motorcycle’s sand-cast aluminum frame technology.

Indian Announces Removal of Brake Throttle Override

Sat, 02 Aug 2014

Today, Indian Motorcycle Product Director, Gary Gray, told us that, because of feedback from journalists and the riding public, effective immediately, the Brake Throttle Override (BTO) system developed to prevent unintended acceleration in its ride-by-wire throttle system will not be installed on any of the 2015 Indian models. Additionally, owners of a current Indian who wish to have the BTO disabled on their motorcycle can simply take it to an Indian dealer to have its ECU flashed with the new software. Although the BTO has been present on all Indian models since their release last year, we first noticed its effects on a group ride at the Roadmaster’s introduction.
