Indian Chief® Classic description
My son bought this new December 31, 2015 from a local dealer, the last day to get the 5 year warranty on the bike. He hasn't ridden it much. I have put most of the miles on it, while getting things done to the bike to get it just the way he wanted it (I'm retired, so I've had time to get these things done).
I'm sure Ill miss some things, but here goes. House of Kolor Kandy Brandywine paint ($5000) (It is impossible for the camera to capture the depth, quality and beauty of the paint. There are two pictures of cars in this color to give you a better idea of the paint). The paint was done is several stages. Base reflective color, then several mid-color coats to build the Kandy effect and then several coats of clear. In the sun , the paint "pops". The painter added PPG Ember Glo to the last two "color coats" ($300 an ounce) and it gives it a subtle sparkle when the sun hits it. I have attempted to capture some of the effect, but there is no way for the camera to "get" the paint. The front and rear fenders have 3M Paint Defender coating to protect the paint from rock chips or saddlebags. (although the bags are mounted so there is no rubbing or flopping onto the painted surface). The engine has Stage 2 cams, modified exhaust 4" baffle (same internal engineering as Rush) and K&N Highflow air filter (same air flow as the Indian stage 2 air filter) and Dynojet PC5 fuel controller and Dyno tuning. The bike is FAST and the engine is STRONG. (recently had its 3rd oil change/filter service. First at 500 miles, second at 3000 miles) Custom made Buckhorn style (mini ape) handlebars. Internal wiring and extended cables. Black faced clock and thermometer mounted on bars (Stock bars are available if prefered). BikeMaster mirrors (stock mirrors available, if prefered) Mustang Drivers Seat with Drivers Backrest and Document bag. The seat is customized with comfort foam and has a long hair sheepskin cover. (the stock seat, which has never been ridden is available if prefered). Chrome radius rear fender luggage rack. Radius license plate mounting bracket with radius chrome plate holder. Osprey custom made saddlebags with Indian embossing (not available anymore...one of a kind saddlebags made for this bike) Osprey custom fork bag (one of a kind, made for this bike) Low, chrome trimmed windshield (mid height windshield available if prefered) Kuryakyn chrome floorboards with flip out foot rests (stock floorboards available, never ridden) Custom brake and shift pedal, with concho inserts (stock pedal and peg available if prefered) LED white light, high intensity bulbs for Running/Driving Lights (stock bulbs available, if prefered) Chrome Hardware replaced stock nuts and bolts ie: fenders, light housing, controls running/driving lights, horn cover, air filter cover, engine bolts, etc. Chrome covers on on/off switches. Chrome engine cover, Chrome heel shifter, Chrome taillight surround. Clear Oregon title, in hand. One of the pictures shows the bikes readout for mpg and the other shows the odometer reading on the day of listing. I will deliver the bike within 1000 miles of my location (NW Washington) for $300 (less if closer). $19,000.00 or best offer. I am looking at convertibles, so if you have one to trade, I might consider taking it on trade and I'll pay my son. The motorcycle is sold AS IS and there is the remainder of the 5 year factory warranty. If you want it shipped, I will assist your shipper on this end. If you have questions, I'll get back to you within 24 hours. |

Polaris Reveals All-New Indian Thunder Stroke 111 Engine
Mon, 11 Mar 2013Indian Motorcycle revealed its all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, the first engine developed under its new Polaris Industries ownership and the powerplant for the 2014 model year. According to Polaris, the Thunder Stroke 111 engine has already undergone over a million miles of testing, including thousands of miles of on-road testing. Polaris deserves some credit for developing an all-new engine for Indian Motorcycle instead of just re-using the 106ci Freedom V-Twin engine used in the current Victory Motorcycles lineup.
Polaris Reports Q1 2014 Sales Results
Wed, 23 Apr 2014Polaris Industries reported a 52% increase in motorcycle revenues over the first quarter of 2014, thanks in large part to the addition of Indian Motorcycles. Motorcycle sales generated $78.9 million in sales revenue for Polaris, compared to $51.8 million in the same quarter last year. The key thing to remember however, is Indian Motorcycles wasn’t relaunched until late summer, so last year’s first quarter sales were made up almost entirely of Victory Motorcycles.
