Indian All description
You are looking at a very original 1947 Indian Chief, I guess you would call this a barn find, with a good clear title, this is a numbers matching bike. I purchased this bike from Rocky's cycle supply in Michigan, has hundreds of vintage motorcycles. This particular motorcycle he was riding in 1961 when he decided to take it apart to restore it, he kept it locked up in a store room for 55 years so none of the parts would get lost. There were many different events that happened and he never got around to restoring this bike. I purchased this bike from him and decided to leave all of the beautiful patina, the motor has been completely rebuilt, it has original carburetor that was rebuilt, we were careful not to disturb the original appearance and the patina. The transmission was completely gone through, a new King clutch, the wheels were gone through used the original rims with new original cad plated spokes from Buchanons, new tires and tubes, went through brakes, the front-end was taken apart and rebuilt with new bushings and neck bearings, sent the original Corbin speedometer off and had it completely rebuilt leaving the patina. The original generator was sent off and it was rebuilt and new cutout, new wiring harness, a new Indian seat from Heather's. All of the controls on the handlebar were gone through, new exhaust, original was just too bad. This bike has been gone through completely mechanically. The tanks were very nice, we just cleaned them and had them coated on the inside. The sheet metal is all original Indian, the paint is over 50 years old it was painted prior to 1961, it has the original horn that works properly, original motolamp headlight that works as it should it has had a sealed beam bulb put into original shell and ring, original generator which is charging correctly with working amp gauge, Corbin speedometer rebuilt and accurate, showing 3 miles at the time of this picture. The original front fender light was missing on this bike so I put the best reproduction that I could get, just could not find a good original one at this time. We ran the engine a few hours and have changed the oil twice, the bike starts like it should, it has very good compression, transmission shifts beautifully, the bike goes down the road super straight and everything on this bike works. The gentleman that performed the engine and transmission work is very familiar with Indian Chiefs and has a lot of motor work under his belt.
This is the chance to buy a very nice original 1947 Indian Chief that has not been restored cosmetically with the exception of the 55 plus year old paint job, this bike has very few reproduction parts, all of the hard to find stuff is there, this is the real deal. It is not a bike put together out of parts and made to look like it has patina. It has all the right parts in the right places and will give someone years of service and enjoyment, my experience is most people will go right past a restored bike to see a nice old crusty bike. Will deliver within 500 miles of Tulsa for free, a dollar per mile after that in the lower 48 states. If you have questions or want more information call Tony Mills at 918-638-6171. Note: This is a very nice bike it has no problems, a bidder with no money won the auction last time I just wanted to clarify that it had nothing to do with the bike. Please do not bid on this auction unless you have the money to complete the purchase. This bike will make someone very happy... Good Luck! |
