Indian 1929 Chief 74cu. Twin original unrestored description

If you have been looking for a pre-war Indian in original unrestored condition...this is it.  Here is a 1929 Indian Chief Twin in original unrestored conditon with original unrestored rust.  Small amounts of the original red paint are still there on the lower frame and parts where decades of oil preserved it.  I am reluctantly selling this Indian Chief  due to a change in family status.  An Indian engine registry shows the particular engine in this Chief is 74 c.i. and was the largest offered in 1929.  The previous owner claimed that he saw this engine running before he purchased the motorcycle.  I can’t verify that, but the engine does turn over with compression and the bike was delivered to me with oil in the crankcase and fuel in the tank.  I have since then drained the fuel and have not attempted to start the engine.  The front tire holds some air, but the rear refuses...probably a bad valve.  The pictures below provide a more complete description.

If you want the ultimate conversation piece, just put this Indian in your garage or man cave with a few period pictures of Indian racing or riding clubs and you will be set.  No other machine I have owned garners the attention that this Indian does.  And why not.  How many original unrestored 1929 Indians are left?

Opportunity knocks but once for an original unrestored machine like this 1929 Indian.  Don’t let this opportunity pass you by and leave you wishing a week later that you had placed your best bid.  Bid early and don’t lose this opportunity.

A $1000 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction end.  Full payment of purchase price is due within 5 days of the auction end, not the 3 days shown in the eBay payment section.  PayPal is accepted for the deposit, but a Cashiers or Certified check is required for the balance of full payment.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and the motorcycle will not be released for shipping until all funds have been recieved and cleared.  Buyer needs to arrange shipping that will pickup the motorcycle within 30 days after the motorcycle is cleared for shipping.

I do not have a title for this motorcycle so it will be sold as is with a bill of sale only.

This Indian is a nonrefundable sale, so be sure you want this great machine before bidding.  Since this Indian is also for sale locally I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Thanks for your consideration and good luck bidding on this great original unrestored piece of American motorcycle history.

Polaris Reports Q1 2012 Results

Wed, 18 Apr 2012

Polaris Industries reported a 44% increase in on-road vehicle sales revenue and a 40% increase in North American Victory Motorcycle unit sales over the first quarter of 2012. According to Polaris’ first quarter report, its on-road vehicle division (which consists of the Victory and Indian motorcycle brands as well as electric vehicle brands GEM and Goupil) generated $64.7 million in sales revenue, compared to $44.9 million reported in the same quarter of 2011. Of course, the Polaris didn’t yet own Indian, GEM or Goupil during that quarter last year, so the figures are a bit misleading.

2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS – the Indian KTM Duke 200

Bajaj Auto has unveiled its new naked model for the Indian market. The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS (Naked Sport) is shares many of the same components of the also recently launched KTM Duke 200, but with a few cost-cutting measures. Bajaj, of course, owns a 39.26% share of KTM so such crossover of technology should be expected.KTM will be positioned as a premium brand while the Bajaj brand will be presented as a more-affordable alternative.
