Starting bid is the reserve
As many of you already know, I currently have a 1/2 off sale going on all my VMX bikes through my website. So far, right around 3 dozen bikes have already been sold in the last 3 months. At those prices my bikes are already a steal, but in order to keep the momentum flowing I will be listing 1 or 2 a week here on ebay. I will be offering a select few here at even lower starting prices, so here's your chance to save even more $$ on certain models in the upcoming weeks and months. I have this bike listed on my website for $5,000 so as you can see this bike is going to sell to someone here really CHEAP!
Please see my other listings as I have an auction on a very nice 1986 Kawasaki KX125 running at the same time as this one.
The automatic Husqvarna was first presented to the public in 1976 with an air cooled 360cc motor. It retailed for NEARLY TWICE AS MUCH as Husky's own 360CR or WR bikes due to their cutting edge technology and very high cost to produce. These bikes evolved into 390's, then 420's, then 500's, then ending with these watercooled 430's. Unlike the ROKON automatics developed a couple years before using a CVT or (single speed) continuously variable transmission (which felt like you were riding a bike with a slipping clutch), these Husqvarna Autos had REAL 4-speed transmissions that shifted through the gears. Start the bike in neutral, let the engine warm up properly, shift the 'gear' lever on top of engine cases into 'drive', roll on the throttle, and simply ROOST away from anyone and everyone riding anything else. Even under full power these trannies will upshift cleanly and crisply. It's because of this reason why most dirt bike magazines of the day stated that the Husky Auto would almost ALWAYS be the first bike to the first corner.
THIS BIKE HAS SOME UNIQUE ADDITIONAL FEATURES: The left side 'clutch' lever (usually missing on all auto's) is actually a hand actuation lever with cable for the rear brake. Auto's are very popular with leg or foot handicapped individuals because left foot shifting is eliminated, but this bike has been professionally and cleanly modified to overide right foot brake actuation as well. However, the foot lever is still there and can still be actuated by foot as normal. So, basically, if only your arms function then you can still ride this bike somewhat safely. Front brake is hydraulic disc and still functions as normal with your right hand. ALSO--bike has some very cool aftermarket aluminum bits like full case & lower pipe guards, front disc guard, aluminum hand guard bark busters, vintage O'Neal bar pad, and new reproduction rear tool pouch. Original gold Nordisc rims and tires are very nice.
This was the end of the line for the automatics and this one has all the latest technology offered by Husqvarna such as: front disc brake, watercooling, trouble free Mikuni carbueration, and Ohlins suspension front & rear. Ohlins rear shocks are the best in the world, period.
Bike is not perfect as original plastic was restored but is still not new. Original seat cover is good but does have some sun fading and a couple age cracks---still totally usable though. Also, the front odometer is there and in good shape but has NO CABLE. This is a great vintage race bike that I've kept as close to all stock and original as I could. New reproduction graphics but otherwise this was a very low mileage bike that I just cleaned up and serviced. Just the necessary bits to bring it back to near original condition without going over the top crazy on it. Original pipe and silencer/spark arrestor are extremely nice. Bike has been serviced and is ready to go but PLEASE READ DISCLAIMER BELOW before bidding.
Please look at photos and ask questions. Az-Mike 623-465-0636. Feel free to call anytime.
PAYMENT: I accept a $250 DEPOSIT only through payal. I will NOT ACCEPT full payment through paypal. Any balance of funds are due within 7 days via; cash in person, wire transfer, personal check, bank check. Bike does not leave my possession until all funds have cleared my bank. Please only bid if you intend to follow through with the purchase. I will use eBay's unpaid item dispute service to the full extent if I am pushed into doing so.
DISCLAIMER: This is a USED vintage dirt racing motorcycle that comes WITHOUT any warranty or guarantee of any kind. Bike is sold in used and as-is condition. ALWAYS count on YOU, the BUYER being REQUIRED to PERFORM something on it PRIOR to RIDING or RACING it. Photos tell the story so please look closely and ask questions if needed.
SHIPPING: USA--I have an arrangement with a good, honest, reliable shipper using an 18 wheeler rig (enclosed) to get these bikes just about anywhere in the USA for anywhere between 200-500 bucks depending on where you live in relation to Phoenix, AZ. All shipping costs are the responsibility of buyer but I can help arrange shipping for you if needed. Pick up is preferred.
SHIPPING: INTERNATIONAL--This bike has NO TITLE so getting out of USA and into yours will be relatively hard. All shipping costs are the responsibility of buyer but I can help arrange for you if needed. Pickup is preferred.
REGARDING MY FEEDBACK: Although I sell most of my bikes through my own site, you may notice that I've sold quite a few through ebay as well. In all my years of selling I've only encountered one complete idiot (and his wife) who for some reason felt that they were buying a 'brand new' '78 Husky 390CR from me for the colosall sum of $2,000.00. It actually was a really decent bike, but it was definitely used as any 35 year old vintage dirt racing motorcycle would be. Even when dealing with people like this, I still try my best to make them happy after the sale, but I will not respond to blackmail threats of leaving me negative feedback unless I send them new parts or money back. That's a sure way of getting absolutely nothing more out of me. With that said, I need people to understand that these are used race bikes and there will ALWAYS be something that YOU need to perform on it prior to riding or racing it. Most of you guys who have been in the VMX hobby for years like me already understand this, but there are some who just don't get it. If you are one of those people, PLEASE do not bid on any of my stuff---if you want a new bike from 1978 please go get into your time machine that you have hiding in your garage, go back to 1978, and buy yourself a new bike.

Movie: The John Penton Story
Wed, 06 Mar 2013John Penton was one of the most influential figures in the development of off-road motorcycle racing in America during the 1960s and ’70s. His life’s story is triumphant and tragic. When his attempts to convince Husqvarna to produce a smaller, lighter motorcycle fell on deaf ears, Penton created his own design and commissioned KTM, a small moped and bicycle maker in Austria, to build it. The motorcycle was an instant success in off-road competition and led KTM to expand its efforts in the motorcycle realm, initially in conjunction with Penton and ultimately on its own.

EICMA 2012: Husqvarna Presents Updated Baja Concept
Tue, 13 Nov 2012Last January, Husqvarna unveiled a new concept model at the International Motorcycle Shows stop in New York City called the Baja. That concept was similar to the MOAB concept Husqvarna displayed at last year’s EICMA show, but with an off-road style mud guard instead of the MOAB’s street fender. This year, Husqvarna returns to the 2012 EICMA Show with an updated version of the Baja concept that looks a lot closer to being ready for production.
