Honda 1981 Xr80 With Xr100 Engine!! No Reserve! on 2040-motos
Honda XR tech info
Honda XR description
Honda 1981 XR80.. Plus! It has an XR100 engine with new top end (piston, rings, gaskets, valve seal). Lots of other new parts including cables, front tire, wheel bearings, chain, brakes, grips, ignition points and coil. This is a small bike with some serious torque. I'm 5'6", so a little too tall for this, I weight 150. It's got so much bottom end I can shift it up through the gears to 3rd then cruise around the yard.. you can lug it down pretty slow for a corner, then accelerate without having to down shift. It's totally fun! (It's a 5 speed!) The frame and painted parts were stripped to bare metal, then prepped and painted with automotive acrylic I left the tank original.. It's got a few dings but the inside is clean. seat is original, too. It starts on the first kick and idles like a Honda should. There is about 30 minutes run time since the restoration was completed.. hasn't gotten dirty yet! Exhaust is stock and has a nice tone. The one weak point is probably the rear wheel.. spokes aren't shiny. I considered lacing on some new rims but I have already spent so much money on this that I didn't think I could justify the cost. The wheels spin pretty true and look ok for a dirt bike. This is a great bike for a young rider or small adult.. would be a cool pit bike 'cause it's more than just a little 80cc bike. Whoever gets this will definitely be happy with it! As I put up the ad, I couldn't believe I was listing it for only 550 no reserve. I understand the market is soft, and I want to see someone riding it before Winter, so I've priced it to sell.. but honestly, 550 hurts. I'm ;osing quite a bit. I am relisting it. The last auction had almost 600 views and 20 watchers. I don't understand what the hesitation is. If I can't get at least 550 for this, I'll dismantle it and throw away the parts. Good luck bidding!
It comes with a box of plastics. I have fenders, a spare gas tank, cables, air box, 3 or 4 number plates, a spare xr100 bottom end, and whatever else I find by the time the auction ends. For side covers, I have 2 sets, but all 4 covers have a broken tab or 2. Personally, I left them off and I think the bike looks better anyway.
If you'd like to see a picture of something specific, let me know and I'll get the shot for you.
Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I'll help your shipper where I can.
Please! If you have questions, ask before bidding.

Honda’s New Documentary: Dreams vs Nightmares [trailer]
Wed, 24 Jun 2009Honda have been releasing video documentaries on… well… everything! Why? Well to toot their own horn and remind you that Honda is crazy cool. Actually, their videos aren’t that bad, although somewhat dramatic. I hunkered down and watched their “Failure: The Secret to Success” video and it held my attention. Their new video is titled “Dreams vs Nightmares”, which features a few notable people such as Clive Barker and Deepak Chopra. I’m curious to see how they take this theme and use it to show how and why Honda creates and designs the products they make.
