Honda XR description

For sale is my 2002 Honda XR650L.
Bike has 13,837 miles at the moment, and is located just outside of Taos, New Mexico.
This was my favorite bike for about a year. Super reliable (you know what they say about Hondas).

• Heated grips.
• Basically new tires front and rear (Pirelli MT21 on the front, Dunlop D606 on the rear). When I put these on I didn't think I would be selling the bike!
• Bar risers.
• Rear-view mirrors from a BMW R100GS (nice)
• Recently serviced UNI air filter
• Still has passenger pegs
• Small cargo rack
• Aftermarket aluminum skid plate
• CRF fenders, front and rear
• New "Battery Tender" Lithium Iron Phosphate battery (very light)
• New CDI (2 years ago)
• Fairly new Acerbis tank (the one that's currently mounted on it, in the pix)

The grips are beat up and will need replacing.
Bark busters show wear. Front headlight plastic "mask"/"fairing" has been cracked and repaired. The rest of the bike is in pretty good shape but has scrapes and scratches consistent with the life of a dirt bike.
A previous owner glued aluminum reinforcements onto the engine case side covers to strengthen them. Not pretty, but a good idea.
Comes with a bin of extra parts. Also comes with the stock fuel tank.

Bike runs great, starts right up, and is fun. Just don't need it anymore.

Could possibly deliver within a few hundred miles for a negotiated fee.

Thanks for looking!

Ben Bostrom Events

Fri, 05 Jul 2013

Ex-racer Ben Bostrum might have stopped competing on motorcycles, but he hasn't given up his passion for two wheels. He's teamed up with motorsports promoter M1 to create Ben Bostrom Events, a company that plans to host world-class cycling and running races across the US. According to a press release, the high-intensity events will feature an 'entertainment-filled atmosphere', combining many of the familiar elements found at other MOB (mud, obstacles, beer) racing events.

Used: MOTOTENT by Lone Rider

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Since wild camping in the UK is generally regarded as trespassing, I opted for a crowded campsite in the heart of Sussex, open fires allowed, to see if the MOTOTENT is worth the £399 price tag. On the face of it the MOTOTENT is essentially a two man dome tent with a porch, Well I can pick up one of those up from Argos for £100 or less. Also I was struggling to understand why you would buy a tent that you can sleep in and store your bike in overnight, certainly in the UK most places you are likely to stay are fairly secure campsites.

Nissin ABS Modulator Recall Explained in NHTSA Documents

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Earlier this month, we published news about an issue with certain Nissin anti-lock brake system modulators that have been connected to recalls in Canada and Japan from Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki, with the possibility of it expanding to further models and manufacturers using the same component. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has now released documents from American Honda’s recall of ABS-equipped CTX700 and CTX700N that shed some more light into the issue. According to the documentation, a manufacturing error may have resulted in Nissin ABS modulators being contaminated with aluminum chips.
