Honda XL175 description
Here is a frame-off restoration on a 1973 Honda XL175. Frame, metal components, exhaust system, and other parts were sanded and/or media blasted and then repainted with correct Honda colors. Every piece of chrome and every bolt, nut, and washer was replaced or machine polished. Tank, fenders, and side covers are painted in the correct Honda colors (two coats base and three coats clear) followed by side cover decals and tank wings. There are no rattle cans here. All are two-stage colors with oil/gas resistant clear coats. (over $300.00 invested in paint and decals). The engine was disassembled, inspected and the top-end rebuilt (new piston, rings, cylinder, valves, valve seats, gaskets/seals, ect) The engine was then meticulously detailed in the correct color with points cover and other parts polished. The engine has just over 800 original miles and was stored undisturbed for nearly 30 years before being sold at an estate auction. The bike comes with a bill of sale only (Washington DMV has no record of the bike ever having been titled). Every gasket on this bike is tight - no drips, drops, seeping or weeping of any kind anywhere. The seat is a perfect original. The carburetor was cleaned and rebuilt. Most of the cables are new NOS as are many of the rubber components. The bike has new wheel bearings. seals, and steering bearings. The front forks were completely disassembled. polished and reassembled with new oil, fork seals and boots. The wheel rims were disassembled, cleaned and epoxy painted in the correct Silver Frost paint, and of course the bike has brand new tires. All electrical components (signals, horn, gauges, lights, switches, etc) work like new. The electrical wiring/system was removed, inspected, then cleaned, detailed and reinstalled with a new battery. The bike has the original owners manual and complete tool kit in excellent condition.
The pictures tell the story. Every detail down to the correct plastic wiring harness ties were located for this restoration. It is not a museum-level restoration but it is very close! There are some flaws or areas that could be better and they are: - The bike has two keys - one for ignition and one for the steering and seat lock. Originally the bike had just one key for all three locks but I replaced the ignition switch which now has a separate key. - The exhaust system was opened, cleaned and new metal welded to repair rust spots. Quality welds but you can see some blemishes under the paint. - There are a couple of orange peels in the paint (gas tank) but nothing I can get to show in the photos but they are there. Overall the paint job is fabulous but it is not flawless. - Some fading on the gauge dials - Decals on the side covers are for a 74 model. Nobody makes the 73 decals (which is very similar to the 74) and I could not find NOS (looked for two years during the restoration). This is a competition level restoration on a popular bike that appreciates in value every year. Strangers routinely point, stare or stop to ask questions. This is fun bike to ride (plus can get 70 MPG) and it absolutely appreciates in value every year. Do not hesitate to contact me if you've any questions. NOTE: The bike has no title and our state DMV shows no record of it ever having been titled (bike was used on private property at a large wine vineyard). I marked "clear" in the posting because eBay requires you put something and there is no selection for "Bill of Sale" or "No Title" (not sure why). Honda RCV1000R MotoGP Production Racer Revealed
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Honda Racing Corporation officially introduced its new RCV1000R production racer which will be sold to racing teams hoping to compete in MotoGP‘s new “Open” prototype class. The RCV1000R is based on Honda’s RC213V factory prototype, with the same chassis and a similar 90° V-4 engine claiming more than 234 hp at 16000 rpm. The key difference is the engine uses traditional spring valves whereas the valves on the RC213V are activated pneumatically.
Honda CBR250R Challenge Series Announced for 2012 Canadian Superbike Season
Mon, 19 Dec 2011Honda Canada has officially announced a new racing series featuring its CBR250R entry-level sportbike, to be held at 2012 Canadian Superbike racing events. The new Honda CBR250R Challenge series replaces the previous CBR125R spec series and will include a double-header at each CSBK National race weekend. The series is open to riders 15-25, though riders as young as 13 may be eligible if they have competed in at least three sanctioned CBR125R events.
