Honda Valkyrie description

I am selling my 2001 Honda Valkyrie GL1500C motorcycle. I purchased it from the original owner, a mature adult, (makes me the 2nd owner) and I know where it was purchased and serviced.  This motorcycle is in incredible condition and is barely broken in. If you know Valkyries you know they have little maintenance and run forever. I just had a complete fluid service performed at a dealership last week, including antifreeze and clutch fluid. The bike runs like new and sounds fantastic with the Cobra 3 and 3 pipes.  The Saddlemen gel Profiler seat is brand new as is the luggage rack and EZ brackets for the saddlebags. Also included is the stock seat which is in perfect condition. Passenger back rest is also on the bike.  The saddlebags are top quality, heavy duty leather, American Eagle leather works brand with quick release buckles and they also lock. These bags were $1,100.00 brand new and were hardly used.  They come on and off the bike literally in seconds. A key lock secures them in place when installed on bike.  There is a small FlyScreen windshield on the bike which is more for looks than function although it does offer some protection from the wind.  Like I said in the condition description, the paint is flawless. There is some oxidation on a few of the aluminum parts which can be buffed out.  The bike has never been down or damaged in anyway. This motorcycle is one of the best motorcycles ever made.  It was only made for a few years (the Valkyrie model) but the 6 cylinder, liquid cooled, horizontally opposed, motor was used on the Goldwing for years and is an excellent motor.  Its a 5 speed, shaft driven bike with a 5.3 gallon gas tank including a 1.1 gallon reserve.  Dual disc brakes up front, single in the rear. A Clymer service manual is also included in sale.

This is a fun bike to ride but its a serious motorcycle and has incredible power and agility for a bike of this size.  If you have ever ridden a Valkyrie you know what I mean. Take it out locally and leave the bags at home, or pack it up and travel anywhere you want. It is a very comfortable bike for long rides. Anyone buying this bike is getting a beautiful, powerful, excellent handling machine.  I have owned many motorcycles over the years and I can tell you the Valkyrie gets a lot of attention when parked near other motorcycles.  This is a fixed price listing not an auction. The bike is reasonably priced for having 6,000 original miles and for the excellent condition it is in.  If you live within a reasonable distance to Central NJ I can work something out with you and deliver it to you. Anything other than that and its your responsibility to get it home.  I would appreciate payment by PayPal only, of course cash is ok too.
No trades, partial payment or any other deals other than selling it.  Serious inquiries only and no ridiculous offers please.  Thanks for looking and good luck to the first person that wants this awesome bike.

MotoGP 2011: 'Expert' Predictions

Mon, 21 Mar 2011

What's instore for the 2011 MotoGP season. Anticipation for exciting racing that's more likely to be largely dull, one-horse races. Here are the Visordown predictions for the top three this year: Ben Cope: Stoner Lorenzo Pedrosa James Whitham: Stoner Lorenzo Rossi Niall Mackenzie: Pedrosa Rossi Spies Mark Forsyth: Stoner Spies Lorenzo Robin Goodwin: Stoner Pedrosa Spies Barring Mackenzie and his far-out choices, it's a unaminous Visordown support for Casey Stoner on the Repsol Honda.

Buying countless tatty bikes. And that Marquez fella

Fri, 10 May 2013

A South African friend of mine called Trevor Binder told me last weekend I’m quite obviously in the advanced stages of a terrible disease. He recognises the affliction because he admits to suffering from the same condition for many years and so far hasn’t found a cure.  He says he can’t stop collecting bikes and while I didn’t think I had a problem, last weekend he pointed out I should be careful as I’m starting to acquire bikes at an alarming rate. I wasn’t really worried about spending a modest amount of cash an old KTM 125 race bike, a 350 LC and a Fizzy over the past six months but Trevor says I’m on a slippery slope.  He says it always starts with bikes that have some sentimental value but then swiftly moves on to buying any old tat.  Trevor is a wealthy man with dozens of nice bikes in his collection but more recently has been on Gumtree bidding for £150 Solex front wheel drive step - thrus, and doesn’t know why.  Closer to home, James Whitham has recently confirmed he may also have these symptoms and is actively seeking therapy.  I’ll be monitoring the situation from now on but in the meantime if anyone hears of a reasonably priced Raleigh Wisp for sale please let me know.

Video: Honda Crossrunner v mountain pass

Fri, 01 Apr 2011

This road (the one in the video) was a previously unseen, super-steep mountain pass which needed first gear for the hairpins and second between them with an occasional grab at third on the quicker sections. It was the sort of road that pumps up your forearms and makes you crane your neck to see what's coming next (mainly cyclists). The surface was rubbish.
