Honda Shadow description

Thank-you for reviewing my auction. Please read the entire description prior to placing a bid. If you do not intend to pay, please shop other auctions. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding.

For sale is my 1998 Honda Shadow ACE 1100 Tourer (VT1100T). These are very special and are becoming increasingly rare. There was approx. 6,164 of these built in the Marysville, OH assembly plant between 1998 and 2001 as a competitive bike for the Harley Davidson Road King. As this bike does not have quite as much power as the Road King, it is much more comfortable and handles considerably better. As for MPG it gets around 38-42 mpg depending on your riding style; I get around 40. The bike has 34,326 miles on it currently. The rear tire was replaced about 2100 miles ago and the front has about 50% tread left. This color scheme is one of the most sought after of all offered on this model.

I have done a good bit of custom work to this bike. The front fairing is from a H/D Street Glide, complete with the full H/D headlamp assembly. The rear trunk was purchased from a local Honda dealer. Both were custom painted by Trinity Body Works in Goldsboro, NC The throttle lock/cruise is a custom fitted Kuryakyn twist lock that works exceptionally well. The dummy or counterbalance side is mounted on the left side to complete the look and balance. There is also a cup/bottle holder on the left side of the bars. I also have the original OEM windshield in excellent condition that has had 2 leather pouches added to it, as well as the original headlamp and passenger backrest. To swap the fairing and windshield takes about 10 minutes. I also have a black Tourmaster nylon "trunk bag" and the original Honda rearview mirrors. I have also done a minor modification to the exhaust. I removed the "tea pots" (resonators) near the exhaust tips. This was not done to make it louder, but to give it a more "throaty" sound. It is a bit louder than stock, but nothing like a straight piped H/D. It is tasteful and pleasing. My 9 year old son and I can carry on a conversation at 60 mph.

I am looking to sell this bike because my son has gotten into water sports and we have found a boat we want to purchase. This bike will not disappoint! It turns heads and gets compliments every where we go on it. It is very comfortable to ride; my first trip was from Louisville, KY to Pikeville, NC and was not worn out after nearly 2 days of 70-75 mph riding. The saddle bags are deep and hold a lot of stuff, and I have the liners to go in them. The trunk is smallish, but works great for a single 1/2 or 3/4 helmet, gloves, glasses, or any small items you want to keep handy. I am pretty firm on the price as I  have a good bit more than that in it, but might wiggle A LITTLE to move it quickly. You can e-mail me with a close offer. This bike is for sale locally and this ad is subject to end pending local sale without notice.

*WARRANTY*  Please note that this is a 1998 model motorcycle. There are no known mechanical issues with this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. This is my personal bike and I ride it often. I do not know of any issues with this bike. There is no warranty expressed or implied for this vehicle. The mileage is subject to change as I do ride this bike.

*NOTE..PAYMENT/DELIVERY/BIDDING OPTIONS* Due to recent scam attempts, I will only do business face to face and cash-only transactions. I will not release the bike to an agent or a shipper unless the actual buyer pays me in cash face to face and signs the title and bill of sale. The buyer can ride or trailer the bike from our meeting place or my home, but I will not release it to a shipper or agent. NO other forms of payment will be accepted (no checks of any kind, no PayPal, and no money orders; please don't ask)! PayPal will only be accepted for the required $250.00 deposit! Sorry to sound hard about this, but I will not give this bike up to a scammer. NO EXCEPTIONS!
*If you have a feedback score below 25 please contact me before bidding. or those bids will be cancelled.*

MotoGP should return to Suzuka

Thu, 14 Jul 2011

Suzuka was always one of the great circuits; unfortunately the Japanese track was dropped following the tragic death of Daijiro Kato in 2003 as the course was deemed too tight and dangerous for the rapid four-strokes. Owned by Honda, Suzuka is a magical place combining arching S-bends from the start of the lap, high-speed in the middle and finished off with the technical and oft racing deciding final chicane, the location of many fantastic last lap battles. However the death of Kato, and Honda’s major hope of a Japanese champion, placed a dark cloud over the 5.807 kilometres of tarmac.

EICMA 2013: 2014 Honda VFR800F

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Gracing the new 2014 VFR800F is traction control, ABS, heated grips, adjustable seat height and self-canceling blinkers. The V-Four-powered machine has been re-tuned  for greater low and mid-range torque, and also receives a new telescopic fork, Pro-arm swingarm, wheels, new, slimmer bodywork and styling. Starting with the 782cc V4-VTEC engine, Honda engineers focused mainly on cam timing and valve duration/overlap to increase low-to midrange power and torque, claiming 104.5 hp @ 10,250 rpm and 55.4 ft-lbs of torque @ 8,500 rpm. Bore and stroke is 72mm x 48mm, with compression ratio of 11.8:1. VTEC valve timing still operates one pair of inlet/exhaust valves per cylinder at low rpm, and then switches to four as revs rise. Honda’s single-mode Traction Control System (TCS) is fitted as standard equipment and is operated from the left handlebar.
