Honda Montesa 4RT Repsol LE description
2006 Honda Montesa Repsol 4RT Limited Edition #948 Trials bike named “Tessa”
I bought this 4 stroke fuel injected trials motorcycle five years ago and am the 2nd owner. It came from Tec Cycles (no longer in business), in CA and was owned by an advanced rider who after only 2 rides decided to go back to the traditional 2 stroke Sherco. I think it sat at this small dealership for a while when I found it and had it shipped to me. When I bought this bike I installed an hour meter and currently it has 34.9 hours on it…not very many! I am a former BMW motorcycle mechanic and have dutifully maintained this bike throughout the years but I just don’t ride it much and I have 2 Husaberg enduros that I ride almost daily J so I am listing this bike so someone else can have fun with it.
It is a fun easy to ride trials bike that I’ve been using as a trail bike and log jumper on my own land. I have never competed on it since I’m more of a single track and dual sport rider. I have it set up for an intermediate rider but based on your skill level that can vary. The Honda Montesa Repsol 4RT was ground breaking in that it has electronic fuel injection without a battery and has usable power that makes it easy to ride over and through anything which is why I bought it. I have 50 acres of hilly woods and use it as my proving bike for new trails many of which feature tight trees, off camber turns, and logs. Enduro cross here we come.
The Repsol models were limited competition edition trials bikes that were typically imported via Canada into the US in limited numbers and most of them went to Europe for serious riders. Toni Bou won 9 World Championships on the Repsol Montesa 4RT http://trial.hondaracingcorporation.com/rider/toni-bou/ Here’s more information from Rick Ramsey on the Montesa 4RT as he makes his a trail bike after going through numerous other dual sport bikes. First some history on 4RT’s http://rickramsey.net/Cota4RT2005.htm then what he’s done to his Montesa for trails http://rickramsey.net/Montesa4RTmods.htm but much of it isn’t needed but it’s a fun read.
This Montesa Repsol 4RT starts and runs perfect and many times sits for months at a time over the winter but in a couple of kicks she’s running! The Michelin tubeless trials tires are great for hobby use and really work well but it you’re a pro rider in competition you’d probably want to get fresh ones. I love how agile this bike is, it’s easy to ride and it pulls strong. It shifts and brakes well and has perfect balance over tough obstacles. I have enjoyed my time on it but I’m a Husaberg fan and after getting a 250 for single track riding I haven’t ridden this bike much over the past 2 years.
This month during the last 1 hours of time I did the following: New DID Gold chain, 44 tooth sprocket and 10 tooth countershaft sprocket Change engine oil, filter, o-rings. New case cover gasket (if you’ve had a trials bike you’ll know what I mean but the flywheel cover has to come off when you do an oil change, a bit fussy) New kill switch New Vmar snail cams for better chain adjustment and range. New Vmar front fender risers 20mm for better clearance. I filed the aluminum S3 foot pegs for better grip.
15 hours ago I rebuilt the “dog bones” on the rear suspension. Change transmission oil. I have routinely change engine oil and air filters based on a 5 hour schedule or as needed. The valves are in spec.
30 hours ago I added the risers on the bars and front disk cover. I also cut down the handle bars to get through my tight woods and tried the white (slow) throttle but went back to the black (fast) throttle. I added a spark arrestor for my woods and a used mitani titanium header pipe and kickstand which comes in handy for trail riding. There are scrapes and scratches consistent with woods riding but nothing major that I’m aware of. Hours are at 35 but I may ride it some more but not much more.
New spares included are front brake pads, chain & master link, left side cover gasket & O-rings for oil change, bar pad, 9 tooth sprocket, air filter, oil filter, original header pipe and other stock bits. Repsol stickers. Other items that I cannot recall.
I live outside Frederic Wisconsin until Oct and then return to Savannah GA and could possibly delivery the bike to the buyer if it’s along the way. Other options are possible for delivery and I do have a wood skid for shipping it but live in a rural area of WI and would have to charge to ship and deliver to terminal near St. Paul MN. I can be reached at 651 270 3893 for questions but please be respectful of my time and I will of yours. I do not need help selling this bike thank you, Colleen Staton Finally I'll be at a dual sport rally this weekend for ADVrider.com so leave a message if I'm riding my Husabergs! |

And it's goodbye from him
Tue, 17 Aug 2010THIS IS Valentino Rossi's farewell letter to his Fiat Yamaha team following the announcement the flambouyant Italian is to head to Ducati MotoGP in 2011.The hand-written letter, mistakes and all, is written in almost a 'my first romance' kinda way. It's touching, if a little bizarre. Some of the letter reads:“Unfortunately even the most beautiful love stories finish, but they leave a lot of wonderful memories, like when my M1 and I kissed for the first time on the grass at Welkom, when she looked straight in my eyes and told me ‘I love you!'"Somehow, we can't see Casey Stoner gushing quite as freely when he leaves Ducati for Repsol Honda.
Stoner Tests Honda RCV1000R MotoGP Production Racer
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Retired two-time MotoGP Champion Casey Stoner returned to the track this week to test Honda‘s RC213V racer as well as the company’s new RCV1000R production racer at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan. This was Stoner’s first test on the production racer after rain cut short a previous test session in August. The weather again threatened to derail Honda’s testing plans, wiping out the first day of the two-day test but Stoner was able to finally able to put in some laps on the production racer and came away impressed.
