Honda Interceptor description

This 1984 Honda VF700F motorcycle is in fair condition for its age. This 700cc sportbike was released in the USA as a response to a push by Harley Davidson to make Congress impose a tariff on foreign motorcycles over 750cc's. To avoid the tariff Honda released a new VF700 to replace it's super popular 750. The only difference being a 3.2mm decrease in the engine's stroke. Honda used the VF platform as a showcase for their technological dominance, and this bike is widely regarded as being the best handling bike of the 80's.

First I will list the good things about this bike:

Comes with a Title that's been filled out by the bikes original owner. When we got the bike the owner told us it hadn't run in over a year. We brought it back to the shop and hooked up a battery, cleaned the fuel filter, and the bike started with almost no hesitation. The carburetor's are operating freely but will likely need some tuning, air filter box is clean internally with no rodent damage. We found no leaks on the motor or evidence of damage. The motor ran really strong and sounded great. Brake rotors, wheels, and motor casings are all in great shape. The frame has minimal rust. The headlight does not work, but the high beam does, neutral switch indicator light turns on, oil pressure light functions, directionals function but need some work, tachometer works but the lenses are foggy and will need to be polished.

The bad aspects of the bike are as follows:

Someone painted it and did a truly horrible job. The buyer will need to repaint the bike or buy replacement panels, or suffer absolute and never-ending ridicule.

The gas tank should really be replaced, as should one side cover that has a broken tab. The bike has no muffler. The rear seat cowl needs to have a seat lock installed. All safety items such as clutch, tires, brakes, and cables, should be addressed, replaced, or otherwise looked at. Hydraulic clutch will likely need a master cylinder rebuild, but the transmission shifts through all the gears and operates as it should. The bike will need some attention of course. It's a 29 year old sport bike!

A good candidate for a streetfighter build, restoration, or whatever. These bikes were magnificent in their day.

Rob Muzzy, a top tuner, engine builder and race team owner has been elected to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2014. Muzzy, who was elected to the Road Racing category, will be inducted at the 2014 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Oct. 17, in Orlando, Fla.

An erratic work schedule combined with a full season of kids racing means, there aren’t many opportunities during the summer months for the Mackenzie family to grab a holiday. Instead, we tend to save our pennies and head off somewhere sunny for Christmas. I love doing this as it shortens the UK winter but more importantly it means I miss the festive frenzy. I do like Christmas, but I hate how everyone gets caught up in the retail madness that kicks off just before Halloween, then has everyone stressed (and skint)before Santa has even hitched up his sleigh.
