Honda Gold Wing description

This might be the cleanest GL1100 Interstate you will come across and it really only has 17,736 kilometres on it.  I purchased it from the original owner which rode it occasionally and only took on one extended trip, and he claimed that the only time that it was outside overnight was 10 days when he was on his trip. and when he returned, he brought it to the shop I work at and I put new Michelin Hi-Tour  tires on it for him and he rode it home, put in his garage, tarped it and never moved after that and that was in 1989 and he kept in his heated garage until approximately 2 years ago when I purchased from him.
I am a 40 year+ Honda motorcycle Tech, {at the same dealership} so bringing this unit "back to life" was nothing out of the ordinary for me. This GL is immaculate, but as you can imagine, sitting for 25 plus years, never started, it needed alittle TLC. I completely rebuilt, starting at the front, both front brake calipers, both front forks, changed oil, installed new dust and oil seals, changed anti-freeze, the engine oil and filter removed and completely rebuilt carbs with all new carb kits, accelerator pump diaphragm and four new Air-Cut off valves. Installed a new Yuasa battery.  The fuel tank had a small amount of rust, so the inside of the fuel tank was cleaned also. The rear caliper and rear brake system too was also completely rebuilt. And while I was at it, I removed all pieces of chrome, and let me tell you there are alot and polished them too. LOL.. This bike still has original mirrors, windshield and the seat and tour trunk pad are in perfect condition and we all know that the OEM mirrors lasted for about 20,000 kms and flopped over, the windshield became so scratched and started to peel after two or three years even if properly taken care of, and these parts on the bike are still the stock components. And I might add, that cost was not a issue when rebuilding so every Honda OEM part that was still available I purchased including all brake, carb and fork parts. The inside of the saddlebags still look brand new and also still has under tank cover, OEM air pressure gauge and case, complete tool kit and Owners manual still in plastic case that came with new Wings. It also has a Hondaline  AM/FM radio which is completly functional.  I completed about a month ago, so I guess its time to part with it.
There are probably more things that I did to it, but have slipped my mind but is complete and ready to go. I am not going to ride, as it is just going to sit in my shop, to look at and admire.
I can prepare to ship this unit by crating it, but all crating, shipping, insurance costs and shipping logistics are the responsibility solely of the winning bidder and all cost associated will be the responsibility of the winning bidder. If you have any other questions, please feel free to message back and I will try to respond ASAP.

Hero Honda Rebranded as Hero MotoCorp

Tue, 09 Aug 2011

Honda’s former joint venture in India has officially rebranded itself as Hero MotoCorp, revealing the company’s new logo and signaling the beginning of a new era for India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. Formerly known as Hero Honda, the joint venture claims a share of nearly half of India’s two-wheeled vehicle market. Honda decided in late 2010 to end its 27-year partnership with India’s Hero Motors, buying out its 26% share for $855 million, about half the market price at the time.

San Francisco-based Frog Design released images of a new electric motorcycle concept, just as its influential Yamaha FZ750-based Rana concept gets enshrined at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Frog designer Jin Soek Hwang prepared the Frog eBike concept as an expression of how electric motor technology can influence motorcycle design. In a post on Frog’s blog, the designer says he was inspired in part by Frog’s 1985 FZ750 Rana concept (pictured after the jump).
