Team Aspar Announces Hayden Signing and Honda Production Racer

The Kentucky Kid, Nicky Hayden‘s signing with Jorge Martinez’s Team Aspar is now official, with the Spanish team finally confirming news many MotoGP followers were long expecting. Also expected was the announcement that Hayden will compete in the 2014 MotoGP Championship on Honda‘s new production racer (unofficially known as the RCV1000R.) “Thanks to everybody who helped make this happen & my fans still behind me. Honda Announces 400cc Version of 500-Series Engine

Honda has revealed a new, smaller-displacement variation of the 470cc parallel-twin engine introduced on its new CBR500, CB500F and CB500X models. The new engine has a bore of 67mm, just like Honda‘s 500-series engine, but a stroke of 56.6mm instead of the longer 66.8mm. The result is an engine displacement of 399cc, which makes the new engine a better fit for markets such as Japan license restrictions are much stricter for engines larger than 400cc.

Casey Stoner to Retire After 2012 MotoGP Season

Two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner has announced he will retire following the end of the 2012 season. Rumors of Stoner’s impending retirement plans have been floating around for weeks with the 26-year-old Repsol Honda racer saying he will continue racing until he no longer enjoyed it. That seems to be the case now as the 2007 and 2011 MotoGP Champion announced he will retire at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
